Thought I'd post this. I ran across this while looking for a particular F unit (which I'll describe in a bit). Thought this is one of those "must haves" so here you go.

As to that F unit. The story is this: (I've only ever seen 1 picture of it and haven't found another.) Supposedly some years ago, one of the Mexican railways had a problem. Two units they had, one a conventional cab F unit, the other a GP9 (or 7, I forget which) were in an accident. Everything behind the cab on the F unit was scrap, and everything in front of it on the GP was as well. Rather than scrap the two units, the railroad cut off the cab of the GP unit (as well as every thing in front save the frame, and "grafted" the good portions of the F unit cab onto the frame. The locomotive looked something like a CF7 might, with the regular cab in place instead of the "spartan" cab style.
