Just bought Marlboro's 4-6-2 Pacific. Here is a picture of the real 4939.

wow I must say with all that your getting, the details look great not just on the k5b,but on the ps4 engine as well, nice work!;)

I always kind of wondered why this locomotive is brown.

Are you kidding me? Is the locomotive really brown? I see that engine as green; I'm colorblind. I have never seen anything brown as green in my entire life... I have seen grey objects as green but never seen brown objects as green. Damn my eyes.

It's a brownish gray. Kinda like an extremely dusty, fading black paint color. It's kinda odd.

and just wondering, if grey looks green, what does green look like?

I dont give a damn if the locomotive is pink, why am i reading some obscure 3 year old thread.............

can i just say that the headlight is too long (according to the first picture) It sticks out at least a foot or two ahead of the numberboards, which it doesn't do in the prototype pic...strange.

If you don't want to read it...don't. No one is twisting your arm.

Some of us are interested in this model. Apparently, you are not...pity...

Cheers,
Fred

As far as that asinine comment is concerned...I tell ya what, sawyer811...if you think you can make a 3D model of a Pacific steamer that fixes that...please do. LOL...that'll be the day...:D

Cheers,
Fred

It is a different headlight entirely, if you look closely, leading me to believe that the headlight is different from the one that it came with. Seeing as the K5b's textures lead me to believe that it is supposed to be later on in its life, when it wasn't getting as much maintenance this isn't too far fetched. Really, I prefer this headlight.

Really though, this is a great model, as is the PS4. The animated parts, and various changeable parts make it even more awesome.

(Though I have to say that this was bumped for a kinda lame reason, I like where the thread is going discussion wise. I have seen worse 3 year old bumps.)

Zorronov i never meant to bash the model, i'm just a major rivet counter at heart. I like it, don't get me wrong. But i'm just one of those people who can't do prototypical routes because i'd become too much of a stippler for accuracy. It's also why i can't model real engines in Gmax...if i could use Gmax to begin with.

A K5 pacific will appear in Nick the Steam Engine.

Anyone that can guess the locos name gets a free taco.:hehe:

Why did I choose the K5s name to be Victor?

When I was looking around on youtube trainz vids almost 3 years ago(I wasn't a member back then) to find new engines to become characters in NTSE, I saw truemacs AKA Ronthecyborgs American Steam in Trainz video to consider some of those engines as NTSE characters, and when I saw the K5 there, I had to think of a name for him. For a while, I wanted his name to be K5, named after the class type he is, but I had some reconsideration and renamed him Victor. the name stuck since. Victor seems like a good name for a K5 pacific, don't you?

He's also the last K5 pacific in existence. Why? When I asked him the question on the S&BRR, he told me this:

"My brothers and I were bound to be sent to the scrap yards at the end of the steam era. We were being pulled in a chain of sorts to the smelters and such. I was just about to be cutted up when a thin skinny man with a top hat camed on in and bought me for a fractionable price. While I was being shipped off to my new home, my other brothers suffered the scrappers torch.
But I never let their legacy die. And so, I dubbed myself as the last K5 in existence. This is my story."
