NY Penn Station - Double Slip Switches

Penn Station has been in the news for many weeks due to all the delays and service outages caused by long overdue maintenance on the existing switches. The vast majority of the switches are double slip. Pretty much every day the local news has a story about more delays and they show over and over the labyrinth of switches on the station's west side coming from New Jersey and also leading out to the LIRR Hudson Yards. Plus one track used by Amtrak's Empire Builder Line for points north.

Every time I see the images I think about modeling the above. I've made working double slip switches but nothing as compact as those in Penn. Has anyone seen a switch arrangement like that in Trainz?

As a new yorker, I am very concerned about the state of said station. The massive amount of issues the station is having is causing lots of problems for commuters around the tristate area.

At least Grand Centrals ok.

IIRC Felix (flusi737) made a nice route with it but it's not available publicly but you might have some luck if you ask him for it nicely.

Most complex I've done would be this:

I don't see why they can't be extended indefinitely. Easy peasy.

From just that one pic I have to assume the route was a labor of love. My plan is not to truly model the station but more the actual operation using portals for the Hudson River, East River and Empire tunnels. Did you use procedural track for the route? And yes, pretty soon the Hudson Yards will be covered when that project is completed.

lol. I hated re-doing that trackwork over and over again because it didnt fit into that pretty small space

Nah, i did not. What you see there is TS12 without service packs, there isnt even shadows so i had to improvise that all. It would work with procedural track though i guess.

And yes, pretty soon the Hudson Yards will be covered when that project is completed.

I hear you. I still remember the original Penn Station before Robert Moses royally screwed it. My mom used to take me to Flemington NJ where my Aunt and Uncle had a farm and the Pennsy was the best way to get there. I still remember that after we got to NJ the train would uncouple the electric unit (probably a GG-1) for a diesel unit to do the rest of the way (probably an E or F model).

I grew up in Long Island City, two blocks from the Sunnyside Yards which was 3x as big back then as it is now (if you include the stub yard terminal the army used during WW2 and Korea). We used to play on the tracks and hide in the open box cars. If my mom and dad only knew ...

It's Melbourne, Australia's Spencer st station. The right half is actually a goods yard. The tracks left of the right-most platform are all for passenger trains/stabling.

As you can see, I've had to make do with what sheds are available. Then I expanded it a bit lol
