Nvidia GForce 200 series alert, please read!

I received this email the other day from Nvidia; Warning of faulty Nvidia drivers your graphics card may be at risk of a burnout!

We are aware that some customers have reported fan speed issues with the latest 196.75 WHQL drivers on NVIDIA.co.uk. Until we can verify the root cause for this issue, we recommend that customers stay with, or return to 196.21 WHQL drivers. The 196.75 drivers have been temporarily removed from our website.

It's not just 200 series that have that problem - the whole range of nVidia cards are affected by those drivers, that's why nVidia pulled them so soon after release.

Thankfully, the fan problem doesn't affect all software, as far as people can tell, only blizzard titles (ok, a LOT of people play WoW) have suffered the loss of fan from the drivers.
