NS Pittsburgh Sub (Large Pics)

I do too, I'm impressed with the looks of his trees, However, it means I can't use this route when it comes out, unless I get TS12... :(
Or perhaps, you will buy TS13 ... as TS09 was an inadequate intermediate rushed out version of Trainz, with TS10 following just several months soon thereafter, making TS09 obsolete.

Thanks again everyone! Great to hear some feedback  good to see the speedtreez have got the seal of approval!

Its most likely gonna be TS14 and Meh, dont judge a book by its cover cascade, I liked 09 quite a lot. I own both 09, 10 and 12, they all have their pros and cons, the Pittsburgh Line worked fine for me 09, having everything I wanted and I didnt need anything from 10, so I never really used that version. 12 is great, and I havnt had any major problems with it since receiving it a couple of months ago, one thing that I dont really think was needed are thoughs stupid layers, Ive done it a few times now where Ive been working on the route in the session layer, deleted the session after the screenshots have been taken then wondering where all my work has got too! (facepalm) I know it helps with some variation (in one session on the Mojave Sub a truck has been stuck by a train at a crossing and u must proceed at a limited speed),but this is the only advantage I can get out of them.
Other then that the route is still progressing nicely, Ive realised now texturing is one of the most important aspects of a great route, so Im progressivly going thru all 50miles of the route re texturing (anyone has found any hi-res textures other then the built-in ones shout em out), one baseboard at a time

Nice work Scratchy. Now we just need some people with those lime green NS vests on to put around on routes.

Hi,

Really anticipating the release!! Take you're time though, I would like it to be perfect.! :hehe: where did you find that rustic grey ballast jr track, or did you reskin it personally??

Brandon :hehe:

Yeah thats Andrew Reigel's reskin, not publicly available atm

Another annoying setback after the missing track business... after replacing one of the main forest under story textures to something else, a few hundred deep holes have appeared in random places on the textured areas.. Difficult to stay motivated at times like these but I guess I'll just have to flatten them out again, one hole at a time... :/

I agree. It's very hard to stay motivated after this stuff. It makes using the replace tool with textures pretty much worthless. I had the same thing happen. Luckily I caught it pretty early so I was able to revert back to an autosave version.

I'm pretty sure I can't support a new version of Trainz until this bug is fixed for sure.

Anyway the route is looking awesome!

Textures are a funny thing. I have been texturing an area only to have the screen go madly skittering away leaving a trail of textures behind it. I click "undo" and it undoes the deliberate texture but still leaves a mad trail of textures from when the map moved like crazy.

As I reread this, this probably makes no sense unless it has happened to you too. Hell, I know what I am talking about and it makes no sense to read it.

I have had that happen, and it is very frustraiting! :'( I like to stop texturing and texture in small portions to try and avoid this.!

Getting the topography height (one by one), of all four sides of the pits, and applying those found heights, is the only way I see to fix the holes.

Either that, or by wireframe mode, and tugging up and down on the corner heights.

Possibly, real short segments, 10m long, 10m wide, narrow road spline would also help fix the holes, using the smooth spline tool.

Yeah ive been using the 1st method for the holes on steeper slopes and then the splines for the rest.. im getting rid of them all slowly, just remember everyone, if u do the same thing as me, 1st u will see a series of black spots appear on your texture, if you texture over these before saving you wont get the holes... :)

Meanwhile in South Fork..

Love that 1st shot scratchy! I need to play around with fog more myself.

Since you started using pofig trees have you used this specific asset: 3D1_Pg-JVC_Gr2-58 <kuid:429786:100533>.

I've been having some issues keeping Trainz running stable and Davie UCG and myself might have it narrowed down to the JVC series of pofig's content. Just curious if you have luck with this series or even use any of them.

Thanks CPman. Oh and I forgot to ask, if anyone has any info on that abutment in the last shot and where the line went and why it needed to cross the mains that would be cool.
The location is where route and the PL passes underneath interstate 219 near south Fork
EDIT: this gif shows it was once a flyover, south Fork looks to have been a busy spot back in the day... http://broadway.pennsyrr.com/Rail/Prr/Maps/Itlk/so.gif
Dricketts- Thanks. No idea if i use that specific asset off the top of my head, but I'll have a look into that in the morning. I know I dont use that many different trees, 15-20 at the most i think.
