NS Pittsburgh Sub (Large Pics)

Hi Rich,

Hope you don't mind me askin; why do you guys (who're working on the Horseshoe Curve route) not pool your efforts together and create a much longer route? If I'm not mistaken there's more than a few peeps all doing the Horseshoe Curve. Don't get me wrong, your work is amazing and we all can't wait to play with it. When I was still with MSTS, collaborations were pretty common and very often extremely long routes were released because of the efforts of many people working on different parts of the same line.

Cheerio,
Nicholas

like how long do you have in mind? the route is already long enough for a pretty decent session time in TRS.

Methinks of PRR Eastern Region... It would be cool to have an MP session (that is, if they let outside content work) with multiple trains running on different parts of the line, maybe with different people acting as different tower operators, or even maybe dispatchers along the line to direct trains, while others actually drive the tains.

God, I wish we had something like that, and plenty of Locos and Rolling Stock to go with it.

In PRR and NS... Hey, a guy can dream!
I started it at one point, had Harisburg and Hollidaysburg. I lost it all to a hard drive crash sadly... We just need a large collaborative effort on the part of a bunch of creators. It could be done, theoretically...

heya nick

If you stick to proto speeds and take a train non stop over the route is a good two hours, any more then that i figured no one would want to do it in one sitting. Besides its not like theres nothing to do/see on this 45mile stretch of triple tracked mainline haha. As for expansion we're not sure what will happen at this stage, all I know is I'd like to see this route released so I'm trying to be realistic about it all. Im not sure I could be motivated enough to do much of a longer route.

Hopefully we will see some nifty new features that come with this route and make it a bit special, I know the fellas are heading out there for a bit of a research and inspiration trip shortly.
nothings impossible...

Cheers

Hi Rich,

You're right, most people usually spend at most an hour or two for casual driving. But I have on occasion (during school holidays) sat down in front of MSTS with a fully loaded manifest headed by a BNSF -9 sitting on the yard lead at Whitefish on an early morning and basically drove a six hour shift over Rene Rump's awesome Whitefish 9 route. Haven't done that since 2009. It is an immense satisfaction to get a train safely, professionally and on time over a long distance on a challenging route and I still wish for the luxury of time to do that these days. But again, don't get me wrong your route is fantastic at any length and it'll be complete when you feel it's complete.

Cheerio,
Nicholas

I have to agree :D last weekend i drove a NR all the way from Boston to WAS, it took me 8 1/2 hours (incl. Switching the wagons) :D Long routes are really fantastic things :)

But the main reason why i reply to this thread: Is this the line Amtrak uses for the Pennsylvanian Service between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh? I really found no info about it in wikipedia :o

That it is sir! 1 train each way, each day.

Theres a station stop in Altoona and I think Johnstown along this part of the route were doing but yes this is the route it follows. Comes out of NY Penn, to philly, then heads west on the Keystone Corridor to Harrisburg, then Harrisburg to Pittsburgh via this line.

Yay!! Cant wait for the route then :D I'm working on the Keystone, the other part of the route, thats why i asked :) It's great that we'll get the complete line in Trainz :)
Good luck on the project

And then you'll run a massive route that not even my new Win8 computer could handle!

I don't think the route is not all that huge, (it is a BIG one though), it would be all the dependencies, trees, grass, and buildings that would effect framerates

Great work man! Hey, i'm making a little route around this area too! Could I PM you to ask you for a few tips and pointers? Thanks!
Sure, go for it

yes, well its not really a route if you've just got endless baseboards, id prefer a detailed short (40mi isnt really short) route then a bland 300mi one :)

I planted some treez then went on a screenshot spam... :/ PS, CHECK THIS OUT http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLVKb1HxhAY

Sorry i havnt updated the signals Justin! i need to re install them i think... :o

Enjoy! Rich :)
