NS 8114 Original NS unit Released

NS 8114 the Original Norfolk Southern unit was released from Debutts Shops this morning.

I think this is the best looking of all the red units. Now we wait for the 10 EMDs to come out of Muncie. The NS Office Car Train was in Muncie yesterday, so I think the EMDs may be close to release. Between the Heritage units and the possibility of steam, this is a great time to be a NS railfan.

Ok, I was wrong. I thought we would have 8 GEVO's only?

At first there were only supposed to be 8 GEs and 10 EMDs making 18, but then they added Penn Central back to the list making 19 so they had to add a unit. The Original NS unit was supposed to be a EMD, but PC replaced it so the Original NS became a GE. Thats why there is such a gap, 8105 was supposed to be the last Heritage GE so it was the last one scheduled to leave Erie in primer. When they added another GE, 8106-8113 were already in some stage of paint at Erie and 8114 was the next one that was still in primer. So it became the last one.
