File system NTFS Thank you for any advice.. Doms

Google tells me that peeps have been able to use notebooks with that GPU to play Crysis, Modern Warfare 2, WOW, and Left for Dead 2 on medium settings, so that's a good thing. Trainz can be quite demanding, since it is a sandbox type game. It generally doesn't play well with integrated graphics. I expect you to be able to play it, but at very low settings, and you probably would not want to use routes that are high in content.

Thanks, I was thinking almost the same, but now Im 100 % sure it would not running well . I continue my trainz "career" on Ipad, surprisingly the Ipad version quite enjoyable for us "mobile" players. Thanks again for the professional reply. Cheers.

Most likely it'll barely run even with sliders all the way down. I have a Dell laptop with similar specs and it's a less-than-impressive performer with much less demanding applications than Trainz. Turion is an old CPU, on par with the later Pentiums and early dual-core series. Keeping in mind that mobile chips get only a fraction of the performance of their desktop equivalents, I'd expect Trainz to be a slideshow to say the least.

Ok well I've installed Trainz Simulator 2009 , its running pretty good ( at low graphics or still on normal ) but if you was satisfied with the Ipad version, not to mention how great game is the 2009 version on pc.. :) A bunch of games actually doesn't support laptop so Im very glad TS2009 works on it. Thanks mates .

How don't some games support laptops?
It is a matter of hardware, not the form factor.
But due to such things as no numblock, Intel IGP, and pretty weak hardware, gaming on a cheap laptop might be a nghtmare.
If it is about performance, a custom built desktop will perform better than a laptop/notebook for the same price.

I have 2006 and 2012 on an older model laptop with low specs, and it handles both fairly well. It's always surprised me that Trainz can be run on lower end machines, yet can give bleeding edge boxes a fit sometimes.

I wonder how Trainz 2010 would work on my Dell Inspiron 1545. It has a T3400 Intel Pentium Dual Core processor at 2.16Ghz, 4GB of RAM, Intel 4 express chipset family (GMA4500HD). My experience with Trainz 2006, Trainz classics, and Trainz 2009 have been pretty good on my laptop. This laptop is from 2009. Since it those 3 trainz simulators reasonably well, I hope the same works for trainz 2010. One thing that kept me from buying trainz 2010 is the requirements posted on the site. My laptop meets the requirements except for the Graphics Requirements. I guess that would be ok since I don't meet the graphics requirements for any version of trainz. Then again, it would probably depend on how much detail is being put into a route. My IGP only has 64MB of VRAM so.

I think you have the gist of it. 2010 may well surprise you! As I've said, I have 2012 on a rather low rated laptop, and it runs well enough, as long as I don't expect too much out of it!

Yes Euphod is right, and today I will put TS2010 also in my notebook , lets see hows goes.. but must to know, TS2009 settings was everything on LOW. 800x600 screen resolution, every detailment on the minimum and the lowest. So it was running well. Also, as he said, if you don't expect much, may well surprise you. Cheers guys.

I run trainz 2009 on medium to high settings. It runs reasonably well so if I got trainz 2010 on my laptop, it may suprise me. Who knows. Once college comes in around a year or so, I know I will be using some new equipment with a dedicated graphics card and a better processor with more room in the hard drive. I will probably wait till 2013 to get trainz 2010. That may be a little late but who cares, I got trainz 2006 in the year 2009. I got trainz classics in 2010. I got trainz 2009 in 2011. I got all the simulators late but I still enjoy them alot. Those 3 trainz simulators never really gave me problems on my laptop with integrated graphics. I can't wait to run 2010 soon. Or maybe even the next version of trainz.

I've installed TS2010 Engineers Edition, its something wonderful & beautiful.. much more real than TS2009 and its works, although pushing the limit on notebook. Unfortunately the minimum screen resolution is 1024x768 instead of 800x600 , so its expect some "jumping" screen because of the high graphics interface. If you have TS2009, the installer will ask you , you want install as a standalone program, (TS2010) or as an ADD-ON to TS2009.. I made a mistake and installed as an Add on it copied everything in the TS2009 folder, upgraded all for TS2010, erased the saved session files, and finally I could not find the TS2010 content.. I could not to uninstall the pack and install again, coz the file got corrupted. So I had to delete the entire Auran library , and Install again TS2009 & TS2010.. So I advice to install as a standalone program. I absolutely love the Engineers Edition, even its running slow, the content is amazing. Also, when I will have chance definiately will buy a better laptop , this recently notebook already pushed to the limit. Maybe if a developer could allow 800x600 resolution , then we could expect a better running trainz.

Wow.. I just found the TS2009 routes in the Engineers Edition and surprise these routes are running very well with TS2010.. For example the Harlem Line or the Robe River Iron... amazing.. I didn't know, had to unclick the favourite routes , it was default, and after it will shown your all routes . So it mean all your TS2009 content can be play with TS2010.. I've unclicked the compatible mode with the old content, and also unclicked from the content manager "Enable hardware accelerated texture compression".. so now its very playable. Cheers.

I run trainz 2010 and 2004 on my Inspiron. For me, it runs fine. Heat seems to be the biggest problem with the integrated video card. So, I limit myself to 3 hour blocks of time and allow the laptop to cool off. The best frame rates are always at the beginning when the machine is cool. It gets choppy as the heat builds up.

Why not make a version of trainz specifically for laptops? Since there are versions now for Mac, Ipad, and android. Or write the code for trainz so that it will scale back and work on a laptop. Just an idea!!

Even still have to try some game settings, try to make variables which one is the best suitable for the game. At least not so much "jumping" screen already, and the basic 1024x768 res just fine. I've enjoyed much the York-London route (GB) with my old notebook, but after 112 miles the game got frozen and stopped working and I was still "lucky" I got there with that processor. Even I have dedicated graphics now, the 1.73 GHz CPU is slow. But its a big step forward to get out more from Trainz.
