Not Saving

I almost put my fist thru my monitor... I make changes on my route, save it start up drive and the drivers are there but no routing i just did. I found it under autosave, had it up again, laid down and adjusted height of boat track, went to save it and AUTOSAVE came up, so I saved it to that, went to drive and everything was gone again.
2004 or 2006 never gave me this problem, WHY IS 2010 DOING IT?:(

I am MAD MAD MAD

Is anyone else having this problem and what is the fix???

Dennis:

Since you aren't showing a version of 2010 to the right of your username on the post, you probably haven't registered it. Have you also added all the updates and service packs necessary to make it run properly? The last service pack had a patch that specifically fixed the saving problem.

What is your current version number?

And still not saving yet? That is strange. Are you running on WIndows 7 or Vista? If you are, you have to run both CMP and Trainz "As Administrator" for the game to be able to write into it's folders.

Right at first, my game was refusing to save correctly also. I didn't know that there was a message from the OS telling me it couldn't write into the Trainz folder until I ran the game in a window. Then I could see the pop-up.

It's probably something simple like that.

Maybe he does work in session layer, then says File, Save, New Session

I use Windows XP

I don't understand the route layer and session layer tab. Do I need to do work by clicking one or the other?? WHY is it there:hehe: ?

Somehow, after I closed and restarted the game, I found the ship and invisible track in the water. <the ship (Drivable Robert E. Lee) won't drive tho!!!! Grrrrr> go figure!!!

I have been making changes and clicking save....

But know you can put track in the session layer too allow different times or scenarios
eg
Route 1-During the 50's it had a station with a dock
Route 1-During the 60's they added another platform too it
Route 1-During the 80's they took the dock away
Route 1-During the 90's they reduced the platform length by 30m
Route 1-During the 00's, they closed the station

Instead of doing 5 variations of the route, they only need 1 route, with 5 sessions

Before you SAVE, go to the Sessions Tab..... MERGE layers:

THEN Save it.

(I personally don't care much for the Layers thing. I don't think it's proven to be as popular as Auran envisioned.)
