Ron,

A common problem is the route list in Trainz 2010. When you are looking at the list of routes in Trainz 2010 you see a green triangle and a star at the top of the list. This is in trainz 2010 itself, not the content manager section. The star option allows you to only show favourites. Try clicking that star to discover if it will show all your routes, not just the favourites. That should than show all that you have.

The star could turn yellow which you will notice also shows yellow stars alongside the routes down the list itself. The yellow star routes are your favourites and blank star routes are non favourites. I discovered the new routes are listed as non favourites unless you use them thus they won't show unless you have the "show all" option, not just the "show favourites" option selection at the top star. I too discovered this the hard way as I could not find new routes.

Another way around the problem is to try viewing the problem route in content manager and right mouse clicking on the route in content manager and selecting "view in .." then the "view in surveyor" option appears. Click that option and the route should open in Trainz 2010. Then do a "save as" before you close the route in surveyor mode in Trainz 2010 to make sure.

After loading you have the merge problems to look forward to as well. Some help at the Murwillumbah route thread although I see you are one of the people who wrote there previously http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=63884

The Casino to Kyogle route merge requires a little bit of track laying as the rails do not meet at the join. The Casino/Lismore route has the northbound rails out of Casino heading in the Kyogle direction and the Kyogle/Casino route has the rails heading towards Casino. Just merge and add the small bit of missing track.

Cheers
Peter

Hi Ron and other Trainz fans,

forgot to add that the Casino/Lismore route has an extra baseboard at the northern end that you just delete before the merge with the Kyogle section. The extra baseboard is the one with the portal and loop.

All the routes in the Northern Rivers series need the track added at the merge points but the spots are easily found and fixed.

Cheers
Peter

hi all i checked all the ticks and stuff but still no luck with them all showing up i think i will give up and wait until, if ever, the route is released as one thanks for all the help everybody its greatly appreciated cheers ron

Hi Ron,

Another method I have used for troublesome routes in the past is to download via FTP into a storage folder in my computer then load from that storage folder into Trainz using the import function in "content manager".

After the above FTP trick has the extra material safely in "content manager", follow up with the trick I mention yesterday....
try viewing the problem route in content manager and right mouse clicking on the route in content manager and selecting "view in .." then the "view in surveyor" option appears. Click that option and the route should open in Trainz 2010. Then do a "save as" before you close the route in surveyor mode in Trainz 2010 to make sure.

In my case, clearly something was missing from my earlier download of the route and that FTP trick managed to get the missing bits.

NSW North Coast Lines

For those prepared to wait a little longer I'm just putting the finishing touches to a TS2010 only version of the consolidated NSW North Coast routes. This will include the line from Casino to the Qld Border and the Murwillumbah and Ballina branch lines.
This will be to allow for the upcoming Grafton to Casino section which Ive decided to build as a dual track mainline (unlike the NSW Govt'!).

I should be able to get this up on the DLS in the next week or so.

Thanks :D as that will remove all the merge problems although so far I have been lucky and have been able to rescue any problems myself :D

Hi Ron,
maybe also try using the FTP download trick I mentioned earlier.

Late last night when I downloaded the route the Trainz download station was up to its "usual silly tricks". Downloading via the download helper scored only 13.6 MB of the stated file size of 25.71 MB. Later download via the FTP method scored 25.7 MB (26,963,549 bytes). The initial download via the DLS download helper did not give the route file itself but only gave extras. The FTP later produced the actual route file.

Back to the route itself; in Trainz 2010 Casino platform has been updated with a car park and my wheelchair friends have a lift! Also, thanks to Pete Gibbons giving us all the individual routes as one combined route, I am free of the earlier problems caused by merging the individual routes!!

Cheers

Missing assets

I suspect the missing assets are probably updated versions of the KUID's used to build the original routes. There are no additional items in the merged route only those from the original routes.

There is certainly a need for a better way to get the latest version of assets into a route to avoud this problem.

Hope everything works as desired.

hi peter is there a way that i can figure out whats not there and renumber the kuids? i have no idea what to do here tom get it going especially with the dls being unavailable to me most of the time thanks for the help ron

A difference between 10 and 12 is in the disappearance in 12 of bridges at various places such as the Richmond river at Casino and the river northern end of Lismore. The Engine Complex part 7 loco shed in Casino loco depot is missing but the rails under the shed are there.

There was a Microsoft auto download upgrade a couple of days a ago and the problem of disappearing sheds and bridges appeared. I don't have proof as I don't have screen shots of before and after the MS upgrade but I am pretty sure I drove trains through the Casino area without missing bridges before the MS upgrade, so if anyone who has not installed the MS auto system upgrade could check this I would be grateful.

Also, the NR class locos seem to be a problem in tz12. Colour OK if close to it but only shows a black loco if viewing from a distance.

The bridges, loco shed and NR locos are still ok in tz10 after the MS upgrade.

As Pete said, I assume it probably needs updated TZ 12 versions of the KUID's used to build the original routes.

The quick fix is each of us to replace our own bridges with modern versions from the TZ 12 default list. In the real world the railways would eventually replace these bridges with modern stronger capacity versions so TZ12 users are just a bit ahead of the real world.

We are using Direct X here, if that makes a difference.
