Hello fellow Trainzers,
Since the start of this week I have begun on creating Queensland's North Coast Railway Line. As you can tell, this is a very, very large project which will take ages, so I have decided to split it into 'Stages'.
Stage 1:
Recreating the electrified line from Yandina to Rockhampton, I expect this to be done by the end of the year - midway through next year.
Stage 2:
Recreating the line from Rockhampton all the way up to Cairns. Don't even ask me when this section will be done - 2012 if we're lucky.
Progress is going pretty quickly right now, and I already have the track from Yandina to Gympie North laid. I decided to texture and finish the section of railway from Yandina to Gympie North before I continue onwards, so I don't get bored with the project.
Part of the reason i'm posting this here is to get feedback from the community - I need to know if i've gone wrong anywhere, as I am (rather unfortunatley) unfimilar with some of the route, and Google maps doesn't zoom in far enough to get a detailed look at the regional areas. The other reason for creating this thread, of course, is to give you guys some tasty, tasty screenshots.
That's basically it for the moment. And now, screenshots!
Two shots of a half-finished Yandina Station.
Going into the tunnel under the Bruce Highway, with the Old Bruce Highway following the tracks.
Travelling around the first hill from the Bruce Highway underpass.
The first large area of earth removed after Eumundi station.
Cooroy station and station yard.
The new section of track some kilometers before Gympie, bypassing the old track that wound up onto the mountain.
Entering Gympie southwards.
The site of Gympie North railway station.
As I said earlier on in the post, progress is coming along nicley, so expect to see many more screenshots soon. Cheers for now,
Jack
