Noob question - missing dependencies

As a noob, how does one go about finding missing dependencies? For example, I need kuid:115421:103003 for Rex Turn. I did searches on the kuid but came up empty. TIA.

Hi
Kuid 115421:103003 is the route Protoclinch-elkhorn extension from http://www.trainzproroutes.com/downloads/

rex turn is a session for that route.

hope this helps
cheers

Thanks. That helped some but first back to my original question. How did you know that or more importantly, how would I have found that on my own?

Second, I now have some other problems I don't understand:

Faulty dependencies: Caboose Clinchfield 1053
Faulty CRR 41ftSand60142
Faulty dependencies: CRR hopper 3bay
Faulty dependencies: NW hopper 3bay

Elkhorn will be a while downloading. Should I expect these to get resolved when its finished?

Welcome to the forum gw1500se, there are a couple of ways to search for missing assets. Incidentally, we don't know which version of Trainz you have, however, I always look on the DLS first, it might be there and CMP hasn't located it because it has been updated, then there is TARL - which you already know about, you can also type in the KUID number in Google or Yahoo on the net and it's possible that it will throw up somewhere for you to look, a 3rd party website, or a previous question on this forum....they'll all show up on your internet. There is also a search button at the top of this page, best to just put in the kuid number and click on show posts, and then you can search that way. Of course, we veterans on here were all newbies once and the knowledge we've picked up over the years we can pass on to the likes of you, we won't bite - not normally anyway, so just shout up if you have a question.....If you don't ask you won't learn anything....We're here to help.

Thanks. Yes, my apologies, I should have said I'm using 2009. I guess I don't understand why sessions authors don't make sure all the dependencies on the DLS when they upload the session or at least publish where to get them. And if they are not available, don't use them.

Anyway, Elkhorn has finished uploading but the aforementioned faulty dependencies were not resolved. How do I fix those?

On top of that, Elkhorn introduced a whole new set of missing dependencies. This is like peeling an onion. Is there not a better way?

Thanks. Once again that advanced the process but there are still problems. There seems to be one magic missing dependency that crops up everywhere:

kuid:115421:103003

Then there are the broken ones:

Faulty dependencies: Caboose Clinchfield 1053
Faulty CRR 41ftSand60142
Faulty dependencies: CRR hopper 3bay
Faulty 2 Lane Road USA 404 Both Pass Yellow White Shoulder

I've used up my bandwidth for today so the ProtoLARS MegaPack is still downloading.

Kuid 115421:103003 is the route Proto clinch-elkhorn extension from http://www.trainzproroutes.com/downloads/ which is what cathouse stated earlier on.

You have to open an account for free on TrainzProRoutes, but there is a wealth of stuff in their download depot which you may be interested in downloading at a later date.
This asset 115421:103003 is the map and it's very big - about 67 megs, so just beware when downloading it.

Another good search function for missing assets is to look at the config.txt of assets when you download them from the DLS, they sometimes have a website address showing, which may help you locate missing items in the future.

Hmm ----odd?
stop me if you already know this but with 3rd party downloads you have to install them manually.
I only run 04 and d/lling from the DLS Trainzhelper pops up, downloads what you want and installs it automatically, with 3rd party sites you d/l a CDP file ( or ZIP or RAR or whatever) you save to your comp, double-click on it and follow the instructions.

I haven't a clue how 09 ( or 06 for that ) handles things but it was worth a thought.

another thing with installing manually is ( in 04 at least) after installing you have to manually delete the "despatcher chump " file found in your trainz folder.
trainz will rebuild this file the next time you run it.

not knowing how 09 works I don't know if this will help but I'm sure there will be an expert along in a minute:hehe:

After downloading all the suggested assets, I still have missing and faulty dependencies. It seems the more I download the more dependencies I need (you guys aren't messing with this noob, are you? Like an initiation?).

Kuid 115421:103003 is apparently not in the Elkhorn extension

Here is a list of other missing dependencies that I could not find on the TPR site (or anywhere else I looked for that matter):

Unknown Location: <kuid2:64038:1070897:1>

No one has yet mentioned how I fix the faulty dependencies:

Faulty BrickEngineHouse
Faulty CSX Mow Crane truck
Faulty derelict loco
Faulty Drainpipe edc 01
Faulty Gas Station 01
Faulty Invisible Road

Hi Roy,

TRS2006, the Classics Series, and TRS2009 require that the assets be committed once they are imported.

To commit the assets:
Open the Open for Edit tab.
Select all the items in the view. Select on and press Ctrl-A once to select All items.

Either open Edit then choose Commit, or press Ctrl-M once to CoMmit the items to the database.

Once the items are committed, they are available for use in Trainz.

This sounds like an arduous process, but it really only takes a few minutes if that.

Important note though, when committed a lot of assets, this phase of the operation can take a very long time. It's best to leave CMP or CM2 to do its thing and find something else to do away from the computer.

Hello young man, or you might be a lady, we don't know yet, but I can assure you that we DO NOT have initiation ceremonies on this forum for anybody.....:p

I'm really confused now.....I have just been to the TrainzProRoute website and downloaded the elkhorn extension and put it into the My Documents area on my PC and then using CMP downloaded the folder and this is what shows up in the Open for Edit section : -

Now, I assume you have done this yourself as well, so you can see that you have both the map / layout / route, whatever you want to call it, and the session. You then have to commit it, which will get rid of that black hammer & spanner logo, and replace it with a bright red exclamation mark, have you got this far yet ???? You can then have a look to see what assets you are missing by going into the missing dependencies area where this asset will be sitting.

Unfortunately, you need to tell us what problems or errors you have with those other items, which will enable us to help you to manually repair them.

Hi John, thanks for clearing that up, I was groping in the dark there:o

possibly explains why I haven't got 06 or 09:hehe:

That's okay, Roy. We all do that sometimes.

Trust me... (as said sotto voce) 06 and 09 aren't that bad, really. You have to give 09 a try when you're ready.

Its tough being a noob. :(

I found 2 Elkhorn ext files, one named Clinchfield RR (Elkhorn ext) and the other named ProtoClinchfield (Elkhorn ext). I got both of them. The first, lists the second as a missing dependency (specifically Kuid 115421:103003). Is that possibly because the second itself has missing dependencies and is thus incomplete (that is where most of the faulty and missing dependencies are)?
