Hi,
Welcome to the addictive world of Trainz.
Before you start buying routes from the content store, try exploring the Download Station…
first of all, think of which geographical area you are most interested in - possibly USA?
start Trainz, and at the small splash screen click on “manage content”
This opens the list of what’s available - don’t panic - you can use filters to reduce the items you see…
on the top is a drop-down box, first of all select “on dls”
now use the down arrow to add more filters.
select “category” = routes
again, a long list, but
next filter ( use the + sigh on the right)
region = USA (or whatever!)
if you see the column header “build no.”, click on the header and the results are sorted by value (low to high or vice versa).the higher the number, the later version of Trainz program used to create the route.
Try a couple that attract you.
Take a note of the name and author ID, then repeat the search using category = “session”. The route author often creates routes with sessions, but they’re not linked in the database…
Also try a couple of the $0.00 routes from content manager.
once you’re familiar with the controls, and types of options (e.g drive a loco, observe the interactions, schedule multiple trains) try route creation
