New user with a question

Hello, I just purchased trainz 2009 and after installing it started to auto update, and the patch utility has now been running for about 20-30 minutes and its maybe a quarter done. Has this program been patched so much that an update should take this long?? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Joseph,

First, Welcome to Trainz, You will find it very absorbing but quite a steep learning curve, I hope you have the patience to stick at it.

The first patch I applied was from build 38xxx to 40040, that one takes forever, I left it running overnight. The second patch from build 40040 to 41844 does not take quite so long but you still need some patience, go make a cup of coffee or something.

hahaha time is no problem im just making sure its supposed to go slow and nothing is wrong. Learning curves dont scare me, i have a 17 year flight sim history, im looking for a change!

Welcome to Trainz, Joe. You'll be in for more than a learning curve with this simulator. The Surveyor module will eat up your days/weeks/months as you work on your new route. There's nothing like completely eating up a weekend while working in Surveyor. It's not uncommon to be in there for 12 hours or more on a Saturday or on any other day for that matter.
