Andy --
That's a disappointment to me as I've downloaded some of the content and was planning to use it in an update of one of my routes.
Can you suggest alternative hight quality trees that are on the Download Station?
Phil
Can someone explain to me what the use / win is of cloning and re-uploading the same item?As I understand it this an ongoing issue of unauthorised clones...
All of Pofigs trees are available for free download from his thread in the Freeware section of this forum, any registered Trainz member can have them, so why would you not want to use them?
There is also a post about why they originally could not be put on the DLS due to Speedtree license, but I think that has passed now. But don't quote me guys.![]()
Because they are hosted off the DLS, which makes tracking down assets a big pain in the you-know-what, not to mention a lot of third-party sites have changed URLs or disappeared entirely. Pofig's trees are great, but McGuirel's and Jankvis' are better and, just as important, are easy to find for any recipients of routes.
And thats why this guys routes lag on the awesomeness, I use all of pofig tress, I can gurantee you that they are the most beautiful trees you will ever come across.... I thank pofig for them all the time!
Probably because Pofig's trees are not on the DLS, which makes them a major headache to find, and why I won't use them. Also, I don't seem to remember him using descriptive names, although I know so little about trees it doesn't make a big difference to me, but it may impact others who would benefit from a descriptive name.
Interestingly by my reading of the CC license, there is nothing to prohibit them from being uploaded to the DLS, since it specifically and explicitly permits sharing. I still think U_D should ask Pofig's permission though and give him credit if granted.
IMO N3V need to hire, or come to some arrangement, with at least one of the SpeedTree guru's or even all of them, to create a decent range to be available on the DLS.
