New to Trainz, question on track graphics

Hi, just FINALLY finished building a new PC to run Trainz on (along with some other games). One thing I noticed in both M$ Train Simulator and Trainz is that the switches don't look "real". TS has those pointy switches (there's switches that can be downloaded and installed that fix them to real-looking ones with the frog, moving points), and Trainz, even with the graphics maxed out, just cross into each other.

I've been lurking in the screen shot forum and noticed that some of the "cross-over" tracks, while others have the proper "frog and points" looks, and just wondered if this is a graphic setting, or if this is a downloaded update to the tracks in the game.

Thanks for the responses.

There are also some frogs and check rails which can be clipped to the track but they are under a foreign name and I can't remember it!:o

There are several 'frogs and checkrails' to fit to standard spline track. Try 'Turnout Frog Left' and 'Turnout Frog Right' by norfolksouthern37...

I believe the site referred to by lewisner is IberTrainz. They have a large selection of frogs and other turnout hardware that you can download as a pack. I use them and they look ... acceptable, certainly better than the bare Auran track. They have the advantage over fixed track items in that you can construct your turnouts with an infinite number of frog numbers to suit the situation, rather than be limited to #6 or #10, and so on.

Anyhow, you should be able to find it here.

Thanks very much. Never could figure out why both MS and Trainz just didn't do it this way from scratch. Well, it'll give me an interesting project for the weekends, anyway.

I sent a response earlier about IberTrainz. It seems their stuff was uploaded in the last couple of days to the DLS.

I didn't take high school Spanish either (Latin, actually; the Marianists, you understand), but a little deciphering, and the assistance of the dictionary.com translator, well repays the effort. It is good stuff.
