New to trainz, can't find any help

I am new to trainz and I am playing the trainz mac I downloaded from the app store. Besides the rudimentary manual that gave very basic help, I have not been able to find any documentation on how to actually play the game. The in game help opens up a trainz wiki that has no content. I have had to try to figure this game out on my own and have been moderately successful. Things like loading a train and using industry buildings are confusing, they all don't work the same and I cannot for the life of me find any information on the web to explain how the various parts of this game work.

If anyone can point me in the right direction to read and learn about this game I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Let's save time here. In order to thoroughly get the most out of trainz, read the full manual which can be found Here.
Worry about registering your serial later, go have fun!

Thank you, but I have gone over that manual and it does not help me with more detailed questions, as in setting up the loading points at industries and how the varies types of loading/unloading functions work. Or what button does what function in surveyor, how to add custom consists to the in game quickdrive menu and other questions along those lines.

I have been playing this game for a couple of weeks now, so thank you for having patience with my inexperience.

Add the quick drive rule or any rule/command to the session using surveyor, main menu, edit session, driver command, add.
To edit an industries production, again in surveyor on the right of the screen 6 icons. Pick the 1 that looks like a house, use the ? and click on the industry. alter as you want.

Yes, thank you, I did that. But i still can't add a custom consist to the quickdrive menu. I have many, many questions like this one and I am looking for a resource I can read and answer the huge amount of questions I have.

This game is great, but I have never had this much trouble finding out info on a particular game. There is usually a wiki for just about every game in existence with info on every little aspect of a particular game. The trainz wiki seems to be empty, virtually nothing is there.

The Trainz community is always open and welcome with your questions. Why not post all of them in one reply and then individual members can answer the ones where they have the knowledge in?
For example, I'm a hardware geek, so I usually try to answer hardware questions others may have.

We have quite a few members using the Mac version, once you register your copy, you will be able to access
the Mac section of this forum, you will find more help for your version off the other Mac users.

Add the consist data handler rule.

Thank you for the offer, but I am afraid I will bore the hell out of everyone with the shear volume of mundane questions I have. I would have hoped that there was a wiki for this game, but I guess I.m out of luck on that. But here is one that has been bugging me for a day or so:

I am playing the Port Ogden and Northern route in the Explorer session. I have gone into surveyor mode to set up some of the industries.

(I learned how to do this from the Industrial Wasteland Route, thank god for that. Something else that would have been nice to read on how to do it instead of fumbling around for hours figuring it out)

I am having trouble figuring out how to load/unload a train on Ind 09 j. It is on of those track marks with 3 yellow squares in the middle of the track and little yellow flags on the outside of the track marking where the loading zone is. The zone is too small to fit a car inside it, the loading zone says it will load the entire train after 60 seconds. I have tried the cars and the engine and nothing happens.

Great, I will register as soon as I can find the serial number for my copy, it's a digital copy downloaded from the Mac app store, if anyone can help me find it I would appreciate it.

Better to check with a Mac user but I understood that registration if purchased from the appstore is automatic and doesn't require a serial number, I think it should link up with the forum when you entered your username during the setup, assuming you used the same name for Trainz and the forum.

The digital copy from the Mac app store doesn't have a serial number like the PC version, from what
I understand, Planet Auran automatically detects your version, but I don't know what you need to do if anything.

Zec or Tony (moderators) should be about at this time, hopefully they or another Mac user will see your post.

Cool, thanks. But as for help with gameplay, any wikis available?

Never used one myself, found this if it's any help ........... http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Trainz

Thanks for the help, but that's not exactly what I'm looking for. If anyone is familiar with Minecraft, the wikia I'm hoping exists for this game would look something like this:

http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Minecraft_Wiki

Also, if anyone can help me on the question I posted in post #15 I would be a happy camper

And why does the in game help not offer any information?
