Why are the cab windows not transparent? I have the Southern version of this same loco and its windows are fine.

They are B Units, and are not able to be operated from. It’s prototypical and exactly how CP did their B Units.

Yeah I’m gonna be honest I’ve got no idea why they were made into B Units. They should have had the nose chopped, but at least it’s unique

It was a cheap way of making a B unit. Simply remove the toilet and the cab becomes non-compliant. Paint the windows and you've got a B-unit. The UP did something similar with some early SD40-2's, but they just removed the toilets added a B to unit number and called it good. I believe that in both the CP and the UP B units, the control stands were retained for hosteing purposes.
