New route - Tabletop Two

Hi all,
Here are some snaps of my new route, the second in the Tabletop series, only this one is on a door! 3 x 1 boards, the normal size for my tabletops, but more complex with plenty of operational interest.

There are a couple of things you will need to jiggle. One is a gantry signal at Main Street station that somehow slipped off the gantry! The other is a small area of missing texture by the entrance to the brick works.

I got fed up waiting for Domsarto's road connecting sections, much as I guess he has for Auran to put them on the DS. These short splines will join to level crossing at the correct (?) height, otherwise the end at the crossing vanishes beneath Mother Earth. The roads are connected with a short section of another type so crossing work and it doesn't effect the railway running at all.

A few pictures....

Big Town station, the terminus of the layout.

Tabletop_2_2_MainStreet.jpg

Main Street station. The layout's MPD is behind it. This is where the signal is off the gantry.

And the MPD with sheds and all!

Tabletop_2_4_MainStreetSignal.jpg

Main Street again showing where the gantry is. The errant signal is visible....

More to come....

Second batch

And a few more....

Tabletop_2_5_LeavingUpTownl.jpg

Our train departs Uptown station and will shortly begin the run down an embankment to rejoin the main lines.

Tabletop_2_6_RoundTheBend_Coal.jpg

As the train enters this bend we pass RoundTheBend Coal Company

Tabletop_2_7_DownTownDocks.jpg

Down Town docks, the station is off to the right.

Tabletop_2_8_HighLevelDocks.jpg

And High Level station docks. Yes, two sets of docks to keep you busy!

When departing Big Town terminus the first point (switch) can be changed alternately which will cause trains to run on both up and down lines. There is another point a short distance before High Level station for returning trains to the terminus. Most track is doubled but there are two sections of single line as well, just to make matters interesting.

The track is different to my previous Tabletop route. I carefully chose a VSR variety because it looks like Peco Streamline flexible. That's my story anyway and I am sticking to it.... (The truth is I slipped up....!! Ahem... my hand was on the mouse, my mind elsewhere, and don't ask 'What mind....').

Anyway, the route has been sent to Auran - last evening - so with luck may be on the DS this later week....

Do what you will with it, it's for fun.

And grateful thanks to Photobucket for hosting these 'superb shots'.... ha ha.

In the second picture in the second post, it appears the track before the switch leading to the outer main isn't straightened.

Other than that, looks very good--and I'm not even a British railroad fan!

Right!

Ah, a rivet counter..... ha ha.

Yes, quite right. I missed putting a spline point in and then using the Straighten Tool which is what I usually do and makes for better looking points. But it's an easy enough task for anybody to do. At least you know where to look!
It's a fun route with some decent operational potential, built in 'OO' scale on 3 boards.

The next project, stangely named Tabletop Three, is well under way. In the same scale this utilises two double track loops accessed from a country terminus but on only 2 boards. So you can have 4 trains running at once, 2 on one loop, 2 on the other, and in opposing directions, just like a real model railway - continuous running! It has been tested and works fine, but plenty to do yet.
After working on changing the MPD's east of Temple Meads which is driving me nuts, I felt I needed a distraction, so started this new 'OO' layout.
No pictures yet though, lots to do....

Waiting Area

It is now in the waiting area, with about 3 million other assets awaiting the move to the DS I expect.... nothing new for over a week....

On the DS

Yes, it's up on the DS, fairly quickly too!

There are a few missing assets, here is the list :-
Content: A Tabletop Model 2 (KUID 87158:104535)
Dependencies:
- KUID 149987:37080
- KUID 149987:37081
- KUID 149987:37082

They are available from the FMA site and are the Poplar tree selections in the Painted Grace section.

You will need to register but it's well worth the effort.

Looks really good, but what do I expect coming from you. I have had quite a bit of fun with the first tabletop route, as I am sure that I will have with this one.

Just one small issue that I see that needs to be tweaked. In the second shot of the second post, your coal industry is floating.

Thanks Jadebullet, peeps know about it now even though I missed it. Lord knows how that happened, it was a straightforward placement on flat terrain.

I am often floating myself so maybe it is trying to copy me.... ha ha.

Tabletop 3 is under construction. I use these as relief from Bristol Temple Meads, that is driving me nuts. So I do a bit on that then go into a Tabletop.
This one has 2 double track circles, well, one's an oval, that can be accessed from a country terminus and the circles meet in the middle to exchamge passengers. Lots of other stuff too, another fun route for you peeps to play with.

Bless you,

Angela

It is probably trainz that did it. In my gravel pit, I am constantly having to redo the height of the gravel piles, which like to go back to their default height, rather than being sunk into the ground.

The download site for the missing kuids has disappeared.
Do you have any sessions ?

Enjoying the layout. A big surprise was smoke from the tunnel.

Be patient or post here

Maybe they are updating the pages. If not then post on here and ask about it, it's the FMA site.

The smoke, yes, I remember my father used to blow cigarette smoke into a Hornby tunnel when I was knee-high to a grasshopper so the trains would push it out as the passed through it.

Very unique Angela! :Y: I find this route very simple [small] but yet very neat. This is where when we say that Trainz Can help you build a model railroad comes into play.

Cheers:cool: .
