New Irish railways forum

I hope I'm not breaking the rules with this shameful self-promotion. Apologies to the mods if I am and I accept my thread being deleted if that is the case.

Anyway, as Irish Railway News (IRN) forum doesn't seem to accept any new members, I thought I'd start my own forum for discussion about all things rail related on the island of Ireland. If you wish to join, make your way here http://railallireland.myfreeforum.org/ and sign up if you have a genuine interest in or knowledge of Iarnród Éireann, NI Railways, preservation or any other aspect of railways across the island.

It's only fresh up today so don't be expecting any hot discussion just yet.

Apparently this is banned in discussions on the boards.ie railway section though the significance of chicken dinners with those who have an interest in railways is lost on me!

I haven't banned any topics of discussion so far! That may be because I've only 4 members so far but unless chicken dinners become a persistent problem, you should be okay...

Just as an update to my original post, I should have explained that while the forum includes sections for discussion of current rail operations throughout Ireland, there is an emphasis on preservation. Sadly, unlike preservation in the UK, we are vastly under-supported (although rail tours do very well) and I hope to try and raise a bit of awareness and encourage some more people to give up some of their spare time to help out.
