new Gmax tutorial for dummies

Why is it that some programmes like Gmax and to some extent Trainz have such poor manuals which seem to assume the user already has a good understanding? Trainz is a huge learning curve for the total beginner, and I must admit I learned more from this forum than from the manual.

Mind you it's not as bad as Microsoft's Office "help" files. They just tell you that the programme can do this, that and the other but rarely tell you HOW to do it!

How do make a steam Loco and I am working on a yard goat.
Some help please???:confused:And yes I am new to Gmax.

Have fun and expect the steam loco to take a year or so. You could look at the tutorials they may help, some people find Blender easier than GMAX and a little more flexible.

Cheerio John

See here, also, you should learn to walk before trying to run. Only after you've made small, simple objects and successfully imported them into Trainz should you even attempt slightly larger objects. You'll know when you're ready for your locomotive when you can look at anything around you in the world and recreate as an object in Trainz.
