new computer problems

Hi all

I have just upgraded to a new computer with Windows 7. My old computer ran XP. Since I have loaded my content onto the new computer I have some loco and other assets in a multi colour pattern. I have tried both database repairs and commit to no avail. I also have notice some of these are no longer available or asleep on the DLS - especially NSW content. When I look at the faults it says I have a texture problem - no texture available. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem. Unfortuantly I am not very savy with computers

This should fix it for you. In 2010 disable Hardware TL in CMP and save the change. Find and open for edit in CMP all of the affected assets. Now re-commit them and you should be good to go. NOTE: The problem is not caused by WIN 7. Most likely, it is your new video card and/or drivers, especially if nVidia based.

I think I need to clarify things a little.

The function tomurban is referring to is 'hardware accelerated texture compression'.

'Hardware TL' is a different feature known as Hardware Transform and Lighting. Usually this is found in the Trainz Options box, and should be left enabled.

thank for that, I have also noticed even some of the content I have downloaded onto the new computer has the same problem. I will try this tonight. Can you tell me where and how to find the 'hardware accelerated texture compression' Yes, it has a nVidia card fitted.

I have found 'hardware accelerated texture compression' and turned it off. Fixed most of my problem but still have a couple not fixed. Seems to be most related to NSWGR content.

Still a problem

Hi all,

I still have a problem with NSWGR steam locos. They show up in railyard but have multi coloured wheels and bogies.

The graphic card I have installed is Nvidia geforce gts 450. Is this still causing a problem?

Did you remember to open for edit and recommit the affected content?

If yes, you may need to delete and reinstall the remaining affected content.

Shane

You may need to delete and re-install the problem assets.

Before removing, make sure you have the required files to reinstall them, especially if they are from third-party sites.

Still Multi coloured

Hi Shane,

I have reinstalled all the faulty one and they still are as before. I also need some help with
Unknown Location: <kuid:523:1146>
Error: The Tag 'auto-create' is not permitted within a container of type '0'.
Error: Texture 'env_metal.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'hash-C8/kuid 41426 29130/bp_tanker.im'.

I have looked at PEV software & tutorials and not sure how to use, is there a simplier tutorial for Dummies like me?

Any other suggestions

david

I have even opened all installed content and recommitted so I presume that would have got the dependents as well

Not always - sometimes, it's best to repeat the process just to be sure.

Also note that if a piece of content does not fix itself after opening for edit and recommitting, it may need to be removed and reinstalled. (The piece of content, not the game)

Should be fixable by a database repair.

Error: The Tag 'auto-create' is not permitted within a container of type '0'.

Delete the tag "auto-create" listed underneath a 0 tag. The correct location of the "auto-create 1" tag should be in a mesh-table, underneath where the mesh is named, otherwise the object won't show up in-game (though it may appear to be without faults.)

Error: Texture 'env_metal.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'hash-C8/kuid 41426 29130/bp_tanker.im'.

Look to see if the texture.txt file and it's associated graphic file it present. If not, run the mesh through pm2im with the "strip textures" option set. If the env_metal.tga/.bmp./.jpg file is present but there is no env_metal.texture.txt, copy one of the other texture file and edit the first line to point to the .tga/.bmp./.jpg file. If the texture.txt file it present but the graphic is missing, find one, often from another asset and be sure the existing env_metal.texture.txt references it by exact name in the first line.

Look in the TS2010 forum for a sticky called "Listing of Errors and How to Fix Them." The solution to pretty much any problem is listed there somewhere, and most of them in the first 5 pages or so.

Thanks for all your help. I retried recommiting all install and this worked this time. I will try the repairs as noted.
