New Aircraft

HI,

The Catalina can be adapted for water bombing. It has been used as such in many countries.
Some time ago, I tried to make a reskin, but it was not possible, due to the way the skin is applied on this model.
Ian, may be a small update??

Also the Canadair CL 215 & 415, and the Trackers are widely used. The Hercules can also be adapted..lot of possibilities.

Pascal, For the catalina, while I did have a texture for both sides of the fuselage, it looks like I mapped the fuselage to only one of those sides, and any letters would appear backwards on one of the sides. Must have forgotten to come back and remap it to do opposite sides separately. I assume that is your reference to not being able to reskin correctly.

As far as updating, I could fix the mapping issue, but I assume users have become used to having a startup model, using the B key, and would expect that.

The model could possibly then:
use the B key to startup,
change to the H key to lower the wheels and change height for water landing (as I do for helicopters) and
use the V key to lower floats, as it does now.

Unfortunately we do not have any other keys to operate any fire bombing animation, except using a track trigger setting - this does not let a user water bomb on the fly, whenever they want. It is not possible to realistically incorporate the raising or lowering of the floats with the wheels or height change key, they should be independant. So any change do have limitations, opinions anyone?

The Catalina has been redone as a water bombing startup aircraft, new colours and remapped. The B key starts engines, the H key raises the wheels and operates the floats, and the V key drops water. I will upload when I finish checking the changes.

Note it does not obsolete any previous aircraft. For best water effect you need to fly slowly.

Well, Ian, I could not expect a so quick action! I appreciate very much!

So you could arrange the movement of the gear and the floats with only one key.

I think I should have some work to do in the next future!

Thanks

Cool! :D
I can see some options opening up there!

Jetting into DLS soon is a Bombadier Challenger 600 reskin.

Models seem to be taking a long time to be approved, with no emails of approval being recieved, however, the Catalina as a firefighting aircraft is now available, see post above.

Patricia_B had asked if could do the Airport at Lausanne Switzerland, it is used for the Rega Air Rescue service. This has three attached track, one for small aircraft, a helipad and one inside the hangar. You can load or unload passengers at any of these positions. You will need to place additional invisible attached track in order to navigate between these, so you can have track junctions.

The doors of the hangar are closed, but will open when an aircraft approaches. If you Navigate To the hangar under AI, a small aircraft/helicopter will load or unload. If you then want the doors to close, you drive the aircraft towards the back wall. Reversing the aircraft will open the doors again. Driver slowly, or you will be up for repairs to the hangar doors.

Model now available, more info on my webpage:

I had previously done a static model of the Rega EC145 Eurocopter, it is now available as a startup model.

Very Nice Ian. I assume you can trigger the door opening and closing using ATLS as well? I'll have a play later on

Hi!

Great pictures, and great works! :)

Could you help me? I can't find these CDPs, but I need for them to many planes!

Boeing 747-400 Engine config,<kuid2:60238:51019:1>Boeing 747 Engine Sound,<kuid2:60238:53012:1>I searched them in Download Station and in google, but I can't find them :( Please help me! *.*Thx a lot!Rolowics

That would be nice, but the plane would have to fly in loops. Just like in the flick i would say. I'm sure the invisible track could make this.

Cheers

AJ

Hi AJ Ian Craig & friends,

Yes it certainly could be done. Ian any particular requirements for AI setups?.
For Craig & my Narrandera_Tocumwal project I have set up several 'demonstration' routes from aircraft 'hides', & recently reestablished an earlier loop taking in the whole of the Tocumwal, McIntyre Field, RAAF #5 Hospital & Murray River.
However at this stage still in TRS2004. I have some aircraft in AI running around while I can fly the Sunderland around. I set up the Sunderland route so as to show Craig the texturing progress along the Murray River etc. Not yet "Frapped", but 'soon'. :)

Ian some good news....I have finally been able to install TS2010!!!! (just took me 2 years). But at this stage only on my new-ish laptop.
Every attempt to get TS2010 to run on my PC (almost exact specs as Craig's) has so far failed. So I'm going to try a "copy-paste" of the laptop's installation straight over to my PC. But first I need to do some 'housekeeping' Hard Drive tidy-up work.:hehe:

Hi,

As Ian modified his Catalina, I can now issue 2 new skins related to the French Protection Civile water bombers.
These PBY 6-A were used against forest fires from 1964 to 1970 and based at Marignane (Marseilles airport).
Other Cats PBY 5-A were used, but this version has no rear blisters.

These Cats were called Pélican jaune and Pélican vert, from the rear fuselage band used to distinguish them.

Are you going to make B-17's? I think there the 'superfortress' the ones that (sadly) bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Jamie

the b-29's and xyb-19(prototype never oficialy released) had the title of "superfortress" and for hiroshima they used the xyb-19(b-19) for the bomb and 2 b-17's 1 to fly ahead and check the wether and 1 to opperate the radio the b-17 was the "flying fortress"

Hi Ian, guyz ...

Tremedous progress on the development of airplanes! A fan of x-plane, flight Microsoft, and some airport tycoon games, I am glad to see the immense ammounts of all sorts of planes in trainz!

Thanks Ian, and All!!
Great shotz all
Ish

Cameronjames, may I suggest you do some research before posting completely inaccurate information. The B-17 was the Flying Fortress and the B-29 was the Superfortress. All the aircraft used in the Hiroshima and Nagasaki raids were B-29s. The Douglas XB-19 was a pre WW2 one off and was underpowered. In the war it was, I think, converted to transport use. If you google, you will find a lot of information on these aircraft.

USCG Challenger 600

A startup version of the Challenger 600 of the US Coast Guard is now in the approval system of DLS.

This doesn't replace the previous non-startup version & has a different KUID.
