New Aircraft

Very many thanks Pascal.

Are these screenshots taken in TANE CE? I gave up on my CE download so waiting for my boxed final version.

I disabled shadows soon after getting TS12 because it seemed to be causing a lot of stutter but I'm now using a 64bit laptop ready for TANE. Still haven't enabled shadows though because it visually jars that an aircraft arrives at a gate casting a shadow but the gate itself or the terminal building doesn't.

Just wondered if this was still going to be the case with TANE. I presume that even if TANE shows a shadow off solid objects, the content creator of the solid object will still have to create the shadow effect.

Thanks again
Paul

Hi Paul,

These shots are taken from TS12. TANE is so far very unfriendly with our aircrafts. See my post page 236 of this thread. I hope this bug will be repared in the next issue.
TS12 doesnt give justice to aircrafts shadows. they are too simplified and do not follow all the movements of the aircraft.
In the models files, you have an invisible shadow. You can replace it in the config.txt. You have an explanation in the config text.
Normally, TANE make the shadows by itself, and the result is quite good. Again, we should wait for the final issue to juge.

Pascal.

Arr yes - I remember reading your comments at the time.

I've read a lot of positive and negative comments re TANE but I'm happy to see what's in the final version and if I'm not impressed I'll just continue with TS12. I'm a bit iffy about moving my model over to TANE anyway but presumably it will be straightforward.

Despite all the negative comments I'm sure N3V would not have spent all this time developing a product that does not compete with the competition.

Could you do a E190 jetBlue? Or Southwest Gold livery? Or one of jetBlue, Southwest or American's heritage/commemorative liverys? Sorry for all the requests.

thank you,
Judah

Judah,
I have to eat my words. I've been away from Trainz for a while so my memory failed me. Yes we have the E190 available. It's in fact the E180 that is missing. I'll do a few Jet Blue liveries first up.
SW Gold livery. 737 or 727? The 727 is an old tech model of Vulcan's. I may need to ask him to upgrade that one if the older Boeing is the one you would like.
The other ones you asked for are a bit vague. Could you find some photos of the ones you are after with a bit of a description and I can see what I can do?

Cheers

Rob

Only one reskin this week: the Airbus A330-200 of Gulf Air.

The golden colours were not easy to make: but finally, I may have got them..

Judah,

Thanks for the pics. I now understand what you were after.
You'll have to be patent. I don't have a lot of time to do re-skins at the moment. I'm working on the E190 jetBlue at the moment.

Hi Pascal

Thanks for the Gulf 330. Really appreciate the time it must take you to produce these.

The PIA, Jet Airways and Etihad all entered service over the weekend and really do add to the realism.

I am still refining the signalling around some gate areas and finding part of the problem is the distance between the tail cone of some models and the red arrow denoting the rear of the aircraft. In particular the Airbus 319 and Boeing 787 have a distance of 15-20 metres to the red trailing arrow which I could do with reducing to fit things into the cramped areas around gates. Would I be able to change this - and would it be wise?

Appreciate that you are skinning a model already produced by Vulcan but wondered if you have an opinion?

Many thanks again
Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your kind comments.
Regarding your question, I have no answer. If Ian comes around, may be he could help you.

Next skins in the pipeline: Sri Lankan A330 and Kuweiti A340.

Thank you! I understand, and am very excited for the jetBlue E190!

Wow Pascal - more to come ? ! looking forward to that !

Will post my query in the operators forum sometime but don't want to get too technical with it at the moment.

Thanks again
Paul

Hello Paul,

The red arrow at the rear is where the a.limback point is placed in Max. This is the coupling point for traincars. I have placed it further back than the actual tail of an aircraft so you can fly them in line formation with a gap between aircraft (about 10 to 20 metres as you say). Otherwise an aircraft would run up the rear of the leading one.

It is also necessary for air refuelling of aircraft, so the FA-18 for instance will connect and not overrun the trailing refuelling boom of the tankers. When they do couple, you have to uncouple them to separate them again.

As such, any changes to the the limback point need to be made in Max.

Hi Ian

Thanks for that - I'm not into military stuff so hadn't thought of that. Not a problem, just thought it might be a simple tweak in the config file to bring the effective length closer to the actual length of the aircraft. Many thanks for your stuff on here that also enables guys like Pascal and Rob to do their thing.

Embraer E190-100 - JetBlue - Work in progress.

I've had the Embraers in my workshop this week. My painters are busy but with budget cut backs, there just aren't enough of them....

Just tail markings to go before being sent into service hopefully by the end of the week.

Very nice! Thank you for making these. They will get used, don't worry. ;)

Pascal,
You make a good point. Lucky we don't charge for our services or I'd be losing money hand over fist. :hehe:

Judah
Nice to be appreciated, but I haven't got them finished yet.

Yes Rob, not sure we could be very rich if we go payware!!

Delivery of the day:

3 new reskins: Kuweiti A340, Sri Lankan A330 and RAM B737.

Paul, B757 and A318 are not part of Vulcan's cavalry. We should choose different aircrafts, if possible, staying with same airlines.

Many thanks again Pascal. Will download now though can't see the Maroc at moment.

I'm happy for Tarom to operate one of their 737-300's into Heathrow as a tech replacement!

The obvious stand in for Icelandair would be 737-900 but that's not around either so can you do a 321 in their colours?

I'm sure I and many others would still appreciate you (and pay!) if you went payware but perhaps not as much as we appreciate you now!

Bob
