New Aircraft

The're all there because their A380's have been grounded, and 747's are probably going to be grounded:hehe:

I don't think Craig has anything to do with this one( I hope)

A traincar can have a shadow, and TS2010 insists some shadow model be provided.

A scenery object cannot have a ground shadow, I would think the aircraft you see above are a mix of traincars and static scenery models. That said, I did develop a ground shadow for one of my scenery excavator models as a spline, but that is too much trouble, not worth the effort.

A traincar shadow cannot be animated, for many of my later aircraft, with the animations of flaring, and rolling, I have to delete the shadow model, otherwise it appears outside the aircraft shape as it moves to the animations. Where the wings fold, I cannot have a shadow in that area, and you may notice the shadow provided for the FA18 has short stubby wings, being a shadow of the fixed wing parts only.

For the problem models where no shadow can be used, I then add a very small invisible shadow model to the aircraft, just to satisfy TS2010 requirements.

When flying, the shadow on the ground is very jerky, while it was suggested that this could be a function of the size of the shadow model used, that is not so, a simple shadow does the same. The jerkiness is a function of the height above ground, close to ground it moves smoothly.

Trainz is always a compromise, sorry.

:hehe: I used static models just to get my placement of the gates right and one driveable plane to test the tracks out, that's why you see the difference apart from Ian's answer.

Well, yeah they are all Qantas, I am an Aussie after all :hehe:, but it was just easier to pick one and place a number of static copies over the place while I played around with the Terminal Pod.

While doing that though I noticed we have a Singapore Airlines A380 but not a 747, does anyone have any plans for a Singapore Airlines 747?

Hello Craig and All,
I've been admiring the BAe at the Ansett New Zealand terminal for a bit.

I can reskin 747 for you if you want Craig, and should I presume you would like a static one aswell? :hehe:

Looks like the Emirates and Air France (and possibly the Swiss) A380s are the only ones that will be flying for a while : http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-...for-qantas-singapore-air-lufthansa-a380s.html

That would be very much appreciated of you could nzms, I just thought that we have a variety of plans from different regions of the world. While Singapore Airlines still have a couple of A380's flying :hehe:, we would see more 747's .... I think :). That would then give us a coverage of Europe, Britain, USA and Asia. I did look up some of the flight details of the companies and unfortunately not many reach New Zealand :(.

We could go on for ever with different Airlines, but I just thought a reasonable coverage of the regions would suit most of us.

A Singapore Airlines Boeing 747-400, dubbed Megatop, at Auckland Airport, New Zealand. The Megatop was the flagship of the airline from 1989 until the introduction of the Airbus A380 in October 2007.

Session Tips

A few tips for (Driver?Flying) Sessions from your Airport.
Trainz "AI" Works OK for trains (Most times?)but not so well for planes___suprise_suprise?so a couple of things to watch out for.
Don't join inv tracks in the sky or place signals either, nothing is more unusual than seeing a 747 stationary 500 Feet in the Air,signals and track junctions will give this problem.
Junctions on ground are OK.

Try to make your inv tracks in the direction of travel (just as we do with Train tracks) you can place Track markers, name them as "Way point"__1-2-3 etc,use "Navigate Via"(NOT navigate To) Way point-1 as command.

Then on the Airport ground if you want the plane to pause on the runway before take off, place a track marker and name it "Rwy *22R hold"(*runway number) some adjustment of it's placement may be needed to get the plane to stop in line with centre line, use command "Navigate To" Rwy 22R hold,(This command would be the same as an Air traffic Controller saying "Taxi into position and hold") next command is "Wait For"__ 10 seconds is enough.

I hope these tips are of some use ?

arraial, That airport reminds me of Queenstown airport here in N.Z where the planes when taking off have to make a sharp ascent to get over the mountains that suround Queenstown.

An update on the Singapore 747:

All going well should have it and the static model uploaded by Saturday.

Sometimes my planes will derail in mid air or go to the runway only to find that the plane goes backwards.

I also find that if I set the speed on the runway as 100 mph, the plane will do half speed or roll down the runway slowly.
