New Aircraft

Well, now comes the time where only 2.7 and above users get access to the DLS. Lately I've been making a web page to host all my reskins, and if anyone can suggest a place where I can upload reskins to and link to them that would be great.
Iced, unless you have a FCT or a supported version of Trainz.

Ian is talking about what versions can be uploaded to the DLS. If your reskins are 2.7 or higher then they can be hosted on the DLS without a problem.

As for hosting them somewhere else, sorry but I am not too sure of other sites.

Well the main problem is that the 767 I am working on is 2.6, as is the 747 I did as well. If the build number is below 2.7, will it still be hosted after the first end of support date? If it isn't then I am going to host my reskins somewhere else that doesn't care about build numbers and whatnot.

Iced,

Refer to the Auran Life Cycle policy:

http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php5/Trainz_Life-Cycle_Policy

If a TRS2004 or 6 version is already on the DLS, it will still be available unless there is a failure of that part of the download system, in which case Auran will only fix problems related to build 2.7 for the next 12 months, as per the table in the policy. Trouble is you cannot upload less than 2.7 after the end of this month if they follow their own stated policy.

My policy is to have my models only available on the DLS, to encourage users to obtain a legal copy of Trainz. The permission to do reskins includes that they only be provided on the DLS. I do not want users to take the models, make reskins, then host them all over the place, that way I still get complaints about issues over which I have no control, particularly if build numbers are changed to cripple a model, and it negates my preference to support Auran.

Thanks Ian,

I'll still keep the site I'm building up, only provide links to the download page (on the DLS, as you said) to the reskin, not hosting it somewhere else. Does that sound reasonable?

Links are not a problem Iced,

When making a cdp you can put any build number in it, (I use TS2009 and make the build 2.7). I assume you could specify 2.7 in TRS2006 without problems, make the CDP and upload, then change it back to 2.6 so it works again for you in TRS2006.

For new models, I never clone a model in CMP, or use CCP to create a config file, I always make copies of my models, and make changes outside Trainz, allocate my own sequence of kuids, then drag the folder into CMP and commit.

Reskins are a benefit, I can concentrate on new items instead of doing many different liveries that may have limited appeal to all users. Hope you can get a more recent version of Trainz soon so you do not miss out on what you enjoy doing.

All ideas go on the list

Would be very nice if your namesake could be built – Vulcan.

We have one over here in Britain that fly’s – XH558 just finished its displays for this season other than 8th October. Hopefully with enough funds will be able to fly for another 3 years. Would be great to be able to fly with your Concorde.

Oh, do you mean one like this Stuart?

WOW Ian, so you have finally got around to doing the Vulcan, looks great.

I have finally decided on a basic design for an International Airport based on one in the USA. Even though I am an Aussie, I liked the look and idea behind this one for a while so I thought I would try and create it. It will still have an Aussie atmosphere though with Aussie Trainz and Planez.

Hopefully there'll be as many Qantas tails as Delta and Continental

I'm going to Sydney for a couple of days, so Bye for Now!

Hello Ian,
Are you still considering these?? (not being pushy here!:) )
If you are hopefully it won't inlcude this feature:

Had a look a Blender and gmax and after pulling most of my hair out I appreciate your work even more now!
I did that once before, many years ago, and fortunately most of my hair has now grown back :hehe:

When you try to do something that creators seem to do with some ease you appreciate more how much they have put into their work both in time to learn and their own creative talents. Let alone the amount of research that goes into each model, just look at some of Ian's comments about the different planes and what they can actually do, the speeds, there real weight etc. Then start thinking about how much work goes into the various part of an item, the Engine File, the animated wheels etc, the list goes on.

My many thanks to the countless hours creators such as Ian put into their work, it is so much appreciated.

Many thanks to Alien too for his latest contribution to our little Planez Trainz World, it looks great.

nzms, I thought to do a Dash 8 as the next small commercial aircraft sometime.

The Vulcan is finished, it has operating flaps though they are really spoilers, they lift up at the rear of the delta, instead of the usual flaps that droop down. It fires the Blue Steel missile.

Amigacooke, I had been working on a Hurricane, and have made some progress. I have used the rotating prop on this one, but it never looks right, so I have made the propeller transition to a translucent disk at higher speeds, this looks much better. The aircraft is able to flare on landing using the B key. I will have to update the Spitfire.

Never in the field of airplane content creation, was so much owed by so many, to so few (one). :)

With apologies to W S Churchill.
