Hi, I have recently got a message from Windows telling me that my trainz Has a corrupt and undreadable file.. It is in the Userdata/orginial/hash-0b file, So I went to this file for myself to see if it does in fact exist and is corrupt, when accessing this file, I get an error message saying that the file is corrupt and is not readable...
Any help on this would be great, as this told me the same thing before my computer went bust last time...
Also the is TRS 2012, and has not yet been patched

Thanks!

Another thing to consider is if you are having files going corrupt, you want to make certain you are not seeing an impending hard drive issue starting to develop.

Well there might be.. If there is, I am going to run this Hard drive till it says, fine, I quit lol

My suggestion is to run a hard drive test. This is a program usually run outside of windows. It will test the drive for errors. You can either download one or (if you have system built by a major builder,hp,dell etc.) you may have one built in to your bios. Running a hard drive test can save alot of aggravation later.
Running a check disk does not check the drive for errors. It checks the file system for errors that have already happened. The file system errors may/or may not be from hard disk going bad.

Also make sure to have a good backup of everything you dont want to loose or have to re-download. Been there done that. not fun.

I use Hard drive sentinel on my computers which monitors the hard drive and lets you know when things start going bad in plenty of time to replace the drive. It's payware, but works well, and is alot cheaper than trying to recover stuff off a drive that failed.

To add, also look in event viewer, in particular for any errors or warnings relating to hard drives or hard drive controllers, can be a good indicator that a drives got problems developing, Windows doesn't always give you an error message re problems. Event Viewer is actually the first place I look when anything odd occurs with a PC, can save hours of head scratching!
