My thanks to the techies

I don't know if the changeover to the new servers is is completely done, but I for one would like to congratulate the crew on a job well done for the forum. It is highly responsive now. Pages load extremely fast without that horrible delay that used to occur between clicking the link and getting a whole page.

I've also had previous problems with the DLS and all of my versions of CM. Lately, I've been able to fire any one of them up and almost within seconds I'm told that the DLS panel is ready. Sometimes I'd wait for minutes only to be told that Planet Auran had never heard of me. I've not gotten that error in three days.

Sit down and have a beer guys. You deserve it.

While they have done a great job, I am more happy that nothing went wrong and we have not lost a lot of valuable information or worse still the whole DLS. The DLS is certainly good or better with CM in 2009/2010 but at the moment they still have a problem with FTP access, even via the DLS. What I would also like though is a change of "face" for the DLS, the black one now has had its day.

The forum is working faster and that is noticeable as well, well done.

Still, I would agree they deserve a couple of beers :hehe:

Couldn't agree more Bill and Craig.

Take time for a few beers, just make sure your not programming the server when drinking them :p

As a former programmer/tech support guy...

...I can attest to there being a lot that goes on "behind the scenes", both in a program's running and in the systems-support arena, that users are blissfully unaware of - until something goes wrong. And sometimes the most straightforward-seeming fix/improvement is the hardest to implement, for arcane technical reasons which are difficult to explain in layman's' terms. So it can be an exercise in frustration all around. But when the cutover is finally accomplished and the new system running well, it's nice to relax a little... until the next problem shows up, which could be months - or days - or hours. You never know.

One episode of my favorite Sci-fi show "Babylon 5" spoke to this matter - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_View_from_the_Gallery for more about it.

All this is my longwinded way of saying, "Thanks!" :)

Well, shoot. At least the forum is fast now anyway. I have 2004, 2006 and 2009 on the same machine and only 2009 will connect to the DLS. Both 2004 and 2006 tell me that Auran has never heard of me, or that I am not connected to the Internet.

Back to the same old thing again. I'll have the beer and you keep working.
