yeah me too and you dont even have to have sketchup pro, i found something called modelconverterx

I also understand that Blender imports sketchup and exports 3DS. You will need to get the sketchup import/export scripts and install them to Blender. www.blender.org

That is i think and you might need to start your own instead of hijacking this one.
