My new layout

Hello all,

I posted a screenshot of progress on my first attempt at a layout not too long ago. Since then, I've gotten some more work done and need some opinions. Sorry for the links. I have repeatedly tried to get them to appear as screenshots, not links. Unfortunately, I've had no luck.

The last shot is where I'm kind of stumped. I don't want to overdo the grass or add industries to the area. So far, I have a plastics factory and an Autoparts factory. The plan I have is to fill in the area across the street from the tracks with houses and other small town buildings.
I haven't decided yet, but I'm kicking around the idea of making this a longer hauling route. Opinions are always welcomed. I'm brand new to this and need all the pointers I can get.

None of those links work, they all do something different when clicked on besides take you to the screenie.:p

To get the images on here, click on the image on the imageshack page the links go to, it'll open the image in another tab or window, copy the URL from that page, the click
insertimage.gif
and paste it into the box :)

And that's a good start :)

Thanks for the replies. I managed to add a few blocks of houses, a school, a self storage lot, and a workshop. I'll post more shots as I get further.
The plan is to have a full auto industry (cars, parts, tires, engines, sales lot, etc), coal mine, power plant, Oil well, refinery, and possibly some other industries.
One major decision I've made is that this is NOT going to be some short haul route. I want to have a decent ride and eliminate traffic jams as I move freight.
Before I forget, I need an opinion. Should I add some kind of a small passenger train (electric light rail) similar to what Denver has in place?

Here is my latest progress. This was done in about 3 hours. You have to love the slpine housing. This is behind the main street.

This is close to the auto parts industry. Rather than just fill it in with gravel, I figured I could add a self storage yard and some older offices. On the other side, I'm adding a large railyard with full maintenence, fueling, and storage. The yard itself will probably take up 2-3 baseboards. Look for updates in the future.
