Welcome to the forums and to Trainz, tdrewh.

If you can, which would be really helpful for us to help you, post the details about your PC this would be a great start.

We need details such as what kind of video card, processor, disk space, and Windows version.

Are you running on a laptop or desktop?

Given the situation you are in, you should run a database repair. We'll help you with this once we've got the other information sorted out.

Trainz 2012 usually runs good with Windows 7, as I have Trainz 2012 on a Windows 7 and it's more slow then a copy of Trainz 2010 would be! But it works!

this is my computer sorry it took so long to reply

Are you able to get into the game at all or does it shut down after hitting the start button?

Are there any error reports that pop up after the game crashes?

I can get into the game and it quits while the session is loading and it stops and the computer comes up and says trs12 has stopped and won't respond

Have you ran a Data Base Repair?

Better yet, what session are you trying to load?
Yes I ran the full database repair and it found eighty something errors then I ran the game and it shut down again. I was just trying to run some saved ones but I can't remember which one maybe british midlands

Does the screen go grey? If so, it's best not to force the game to close (unless it's come up as 'Trainz has stopped working'), as it's usually doing an intensive operation.

It goes white and shrinks to half screen and says trainz has stopped responding do you want to force shutdown or wait for response and sometimes I will click wait and it never does anything so I force close it.

I would suggest waiting a bit longer then, as it's probably loading files from disk. If it happens repeatedly, make sure your antivirus software is not scanning the Trainz folders.

How about other power hungry programs? have the also stopped working?
Have tried a registry cleaning? Is your machine over heating, due to dust build up?

Another thought too. How much FREE disk space do you have? In addition to the installed space, the program needs room to throw around temporary files while it runs and loads stuff. If you don't have enough space, this will happen as the program is busy shuffling the data around from memory to disk and around the disk to make space. Think of a room full of boxes. You can only shuffle them around and still have the same amount of room for nothing.
