SARM Volunteer
I would like to announce my birthday is January 28th, and I'll be 15 this year. This past year has held alot of memories for me, It marked my second year volunteering at the Monticello Railway Museum it was three years ago I recieved my membership as a gift, In May I joined Planet Auran and got involved with the forums, In December I met a good friend right here on the forums, also in September I moved to Tennessee. I'm not making this thread to brag about myself, but rather thank all of you, Auran, and my friends for making the last half of this year the best. Thanks to you, backyard,Ferrous [we talked about museums quite a bit!], SD70ACE17, MAGLEVSX,and jadebullet. There is a famous quote, "did you ever wake up one day and wonder what happened to your life?" I often wonder how these many years are already gone, seems like yesterday I was watching the IC trains from my bedroom window, 13 years ago. What is it I want for my birthday? A dirtbike of course! lol.here she is, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3MdtZbLW1Q
Here's to all of you, and thank you for a great time on the forums!

I wish I was 15 again! Enjoy it!

When I think back, the best years of my life were from 14 to 16. Then 20 when I got my driving licence and got a car up to about 28.

So, young Illinoiscentral, you make the most of your young life and enjoy every moment! Despite what previous generations have done (and I'm ashamed that my lot were just as guilty as those that went before!) it is still a beautiful world!

If you get a chance, read the following poem from 1920 - it still holds good today!

desiderata - by max ehrmann

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Don't let it pass you by
They'll pass you by....
Being 17 Letting you know don't let your teen years blow by, You never get them back. Little advice Youngster.....Don't act like DR house.

Happy Birthday

As others have said, make the most of it while it lasts. When i was your age (all of what, 3 years ago :p) it may have been absolutely rubbish, but i'd give anything to go back from where it's got to now.

Not having to worry about major exams is good too :p

Once again thanks to all of you, you've made this birthday very special, you're all good people, thank you!
Cheers, Woody.

Today is the day, the time is almost right...

To be 15 again...the impossible dream, so while you are now 15 make the most of life, it is to be enjoyed and cherished. Make note of my sig and be curious, be happy be amazed

Driving permit hmm... If I see a vehicle which looks to be headed my way should I look around for invisible track?

Lenny

Well, brickbuilder, I tend to ignore the problems we face. And keep my thoughts where they should be. Although the teen years are kinda fun...
Thanks for the comment.
