Is there and advantage in using Driver for Murchison 2 having it installed standalone or in Trainz 12?

Thanks.

Harlen

With the stand alone you can only run the sessions included.
With the TS12 you can create your own or modify existing ones,

You cannot modify existing sessions in TS12 they are protected from editing and cloning, you can only create a new session.

If your TS12 is patched to the latest 61388 with DRM protected Murchison 2 then, unless you are very lucky, many of the locomotives or wagons do not show in surveyor or driver, resulting in many of the sessions not working correctly.

There are a number of threads about this problem including:

If you have not patched your TS12 you can copy the .ja files from the Murchison folder to TS12 or TS2010 if you are still using that. Do an EDR after adding the .ja files then add the serial number in the options on the launcher screen and you will have Murchison in a copy of Trainz where you can create new sessions and everything shows up.

Initially when I first purchased Murchison 2 (about 4 years ago) I had no problems with this program. However recently, every time I open TS12, three major updates on Murchison just takes over which prevents me from using Trainz at all. I've tried minimising them or cancelling them but it's a real problem just getting into the game. These updates can take several days, ... and why I don't know, because I do have a high powered gaming computer and any other software installs in a matter of a minute or two. There has to be something seriously wrong with the Murchison program. When I finally can access TS12 again, I'll be finding a way to remove this troublesome software. Anyone else got any good suggestions???

Firstly It's probably trying to download the new update, see announcements a week or two back, you are lucky you cancelled it as there was a problem, now solved if you see the relevant thread.
Secondly you can turn off the updates in the in game options menu, untick Automatically download DLC updates.
Problem is then solved, only need it on if you are adding new DLC or are after an update.

Thanks Malc, ... Yeah, I've also found the thread from Zec Murphy with all the tips so I'm now up and running. Cheers.
