MSTS to Trainz 2006

There goes a...train!
Hi,
I have been wanting to convert MSTS locomotives and rolling stock to Trainz 2006. Is there any way of converting loco mesh, enginesound, hornsound, bogey, etc. to trs06?
Thanks,
wridenour:)

The easy answer is no.

The other answer is that yes but its a long road, if the creator used gmax to make his mesh your in luck, cause then you get the gmax data file, mod it to suit trainz ie attach points etc.

Export it as an trainz mesh, write a config put it the right sound and such and away you go.

A few locos have come over to Trainz from MSTS the nswgr 50 and 53 ported by JohnSB come to mind, you migh PM him on how he did it.

It goes without saying that this should only be done with the permission of the original creator...

If you do a search on MSTS you will find that this question has been raised several times before. At least one of the threads (I can't remember which) will give you more information on the moral and legal position and on the practical difficulties. This subject is a rather touchy one on this forum (unlike one of the MSTS ones) and one might find oneself being frogmarched by the thought police to room 101. :)

...don't bother...

 Can you name the missing assets in Trainz you wish to add to your game?

Check out the locomotive add-ons at AlabamaRailfan.com

The author of these & owner of the website told me as a friend that I would be better off starting from scratch...

I have msts, would not give it to my worst enemy...

I downloaded his locos & yes you can change cabs & enginesounds but the terrain...etc.

I'll give MSTS2 it's due...after I've made sure I spend all the money I wish at the Auran Shop!

But anyway, what your missing may or will eventually show up in the Auran Trains Simulator...

You are not the only one to ask this question, so your not the only one to want what you wish to have!

Some of the msts content is just a few polygons(boxes) put together & a lot of three dimensional tricks with textures...so what...

There is a dedicated group of designers being paid by Microsoft to complete the design of the next msts.

Auran has a website where practically anyone including whining flamers may participate & many beta's offered for download to potential Content Creators.

Their efforts will be realized soon.

The two major Global locomotive builders? We so have the best enginesound going for both!

Spend your time on a worthwhile endeavor...like upgrading your computer!

Get ready for the "WOW!"
