Moving TRS2019 (installed) to another location on my PC?

Leave it to me to want to move my already installed and running OK installation to another drive.

I loaded TRS19 to the default locations, and of course THEN read where it is advisable not to do that. There seems to be endless debate out there about this.

So: move, reinstall, or "If it ain't broke don't fix it"?

Dell XPS 8700, Win 7 Pro, Core i7 / 4770 3.4 GHz- 16 gig ram, EVGA 1070Ti, two - 2 TB hard drives.

Thanks all!

Whether or not you should move it depends on what you disk configuration is. If C is your fastest drive and you have plenty of space, there is probably no good reason to move it. If you have multiple fast drives then it might be worth the trouble. Try it and see.

To move trainz I located the install folder from the trainz settings page on the opening screen. I copied the build file from within and pasted to a new folder on my other drive. I then located the folder that contained the TRS19.exe file and moved that folder to the other drive. Created a new shortcut from TRS19.exe for desktop. Opened trainz and redirected the path in settings to the new build folder location.

OK, thanks! Will toy with this. I actually have two identical drives, both pretty large at two TB each and about 30% full, so plenty of room. I use the second drive as a redundant backup (sort of a poor mans RAID) and will be upgrading my boot drive to SS soon. Might just wait until the then to move Trainz and put the prog itself on the SS.

I appreciate the pointers!

That's the setup I have. I put the program on my SSD along with other programs, but keep my data on a separate data drives of which I have multiple 2 TB drives for storage - not RAIDED, just a JBOD configuration.

The reasoning behind this is simple. Data is worth a lot more than the operating system and programs that can be easily installed, and by keeping the data separate, it's a matter of reinstalling the program and simply reconnecting the database usually without even needing a database repair.

This configuration, however, doesn't mean that data backups shouldn't be neglected and should be done diligently anyway to ensure that nothing is lost.
