Moving Trainz

Hi there.

I´m pretty sure this has been asked several times, but I´m unable to find it.
So here I go.

My HD space has reached its limit and I bought a new and bigger one.
The question:
Can I move the Trainz folder WITHOUT loosing all downloaded content? Or ist the content fixed somewhere?

I moved it once and had to DL all stuff anew.... So if there is an option to save everything, let me know.

The only safe way is:
Backup downloaded and self-created assets
Uninstall
Reboot
Clean the registry
Reboot
Reinstall
Reinstall service packs
Restore backed up assets

You might get away with moving an installed program but you may not.

How you backup and restore assets depends on which version of Trainz you have. With TRS2004 you copy the kuid folders using Windows Explorer. Sorry, I'm not sure what you have to do in TRS2006 and later.

Hi,

Answer "Yes".

As far as I know you need to copy the "local content" folder somewhere safe.

For 2009/2010, you can't just drop the old folder into the new installation, use the File import content option from inside CM2/CM3.2
