Hi,,,,,,I dont suppose there is anyway of moving track is there?? as I have made a yard but it is a little too close to the seaport I have there and I do not feel like having to make it all again. I havent seen any reference to moving it so if I dont see any replies I will understand. Thanks

There is a copy and paste option (the tab with the spanner on in surveyor) this will copy and paste most things including track. The trouble is 1) it's none to easy to position the paste where you want it and 2) there is no "Cut" and paste option so the old track etc. is left in situ.

It is, but you can get rid of it quickly by copying an area with no track and pasting it over the unwanted yard - all gone :)

Agreed, but it's not so good when the new position of the track overlaps the old! Happened to me not long ago....

It is a little work but you could add a board. Then copy and past the track there. Fix the area then copy the track back and delete the board.

Bug

I had the same problem with an industrial estate and a mountain range. When i used your method my whole computer crashed.:'(

Sorry to have to say but I am using t2006 and it dosent seem to copy track,, unless I am wrong.

You are not wrong Len, I think the copy function was introduced with 09/10. I guess we all assumed that you were using TS2010 because you have a registered copy.

Looks like it's down to some back breaking tracklaying! (or move the route to 2010...).

Cheers

What I have done (several times) is pick an object out that will match my desired move distance from the current track, and another object that matches my distance I wish to have between the tracks of my yard.

I start by moving the first track to its new position by placing copies of my spacer obect at each spline point on the track, and then move the spline points to the other side of the spacer objects. I then place my track spacing objects along the newly positioned track and move the next track into position, and repeat the second step until all is safely moved.

Rectangular and square objects can work as spacers, but I have found Chimneys to be ideal most of the time. There's a track spacing guide tool object that is also invaluable at times for such moves.

hope this helps :D

Thanks guys,,,,I shall have to remember to state which version Im using,
To be honest, a short while back I bought t2010 but found out my laptop is not good enough for it although my main computer is but I mainly use the laptop for a couple of hours when I go to bed. So until I buy a new laptop I will use 2006.
Thanks
Len
