New to the series and not sure what one to buy.

Trainz will run fine with your pc specs, most of the stuff from 2010 will be included in 12, and especially new routes are included in 12 .you can buy 2010 if you wish.

You are welcome Malaras
Murchison2 is an addon which you shuld buy seperately ,and EE AND 12 are separate .

Hi Malaras, i have TS 2010 it is the best by far, i don't believe that 12 will be anything great apart from multiplayer a few new routes and locos ,and some upgrade with the sound engine.
Basicly TS2010 has your multiplayer as a service pack ,one thing to keep in mind is that not all assets can run in multiplayer at this point in time ,so your most favorite loco may not work with trainz 12.
But TS 2010 is ready to go ,im like you i hate waiting for anything ,
another thing to remember you should only buy these from Auran/N3V AND YOU WILL HAVE NO PROBLEMS plus you support them out right .

I believe that Trainz 12 is TS 2010 and all its s_packs combined into one disk with a few addons ?
at the end of the day it's up to you .

Sorry for late reply ive been out playing poker ,,Trainz 2010 is the engineer version this is the one i am talking about,
there has been a great amount of people who have all purchsed Trainz 2010 engineer version on line throught other retailers apart from Auran/N3V AND HAVE FOUND THAT THERE IS NO KEY or has had some kind of trouble ,
My dealings with Auran/N3V have been as smooth as never a problem ,
if you buy a Trainz product from anyone other that Auran/N3V ,,,,Auran/N3V isn't really able to help you at all ,so there is the risk you take ,,,
its simple order it via Auran/N3V download it near straight away and then burn it to a disk ,put the disk in a safe place ,install the downloaded copy to your computer ,copy the downloaded Trainz 2010 engineer version to another hard drive on your computer ,you now have 2 back ups,
it's much better to deal with Auran/N3V because thats where all the help is.
but it is up to you.

DO NOT BUY FROM STEAM! That's introducing an entire new set of problems, not the least of which is support/updates/addons.

Forget about the Engineer Edition, World Bulider, etc. designations. There really is only one version of Trainz, at least as Auran/N3V sells it. It's formal name is "Trainz Simulator 2010: Engineer's Edition." You might find third-parties tinkering with the name a little, perhaps with unwanted stuff, but there's really only one version, especially for the U.S. market which is the one you are in.

I would suggest if your buying Trainz to buy a boxed copy because you will always have the disc at hand if need be. Burning DDL disc's sometimes never take. If you don't want to wait for the overseas shipment and would like a U.S. shipment check out this site. It may be quicker. www.bigboytrainsandhobbies.com Happy Trainz.

You're right, DL discs suck, but you wouldn't need to burn to a DL disc; two single-layers is best and what Auran uses in the boxed set. And, they appear to use genuine Taiyo-Yuden TYG03 discs, which are BY FAR the best blank DVD available. (Unfortunately, TY discs also the most counterfeited, so they have to be bought from a reputable source, but Auran's appear authentic.) The boxed set isn't a bad idea - that's exactly what I did - but I would only trust Auran completely not to add in nasty DRM though.

Yes of cause the box set from Auran/N3V is better but really a half decent DVD Dual-Layer disc will burn the digital version without a problem,
even thou i have the digital version of TS 2010 I'm going to buy the box set also and probably will get TRS 12 later.
A few weeks ago i went out brought a 2 TB hard drive $100.00, i copied all my digital versions of Trainz to it and all that i have ever downloaded as assets including payware and all service packs, so now i have a total backup for all my Trainz,i disconnect the power to the hard drive when it's not in use so it is nearly as safe as a bank
