More Training? Really, you think?

I visited the USA twice years ago and had thought of going back but there is such an inbuilt paranoi being created by those in pwer frightening people which in turn very gradually erodes freedoms. Decided I will head to the Continent instead - by ship (!). All that extra hassle going on over the pond puts you off.

I think it's a sad and frustrating thing to watch one's country, which supposedly stands for freedom, liberty etc, slowly die away in the name of "Security" and "Safety."

Yeah, the politicians of two parties in this country (Which is dangerously close to one party, if you get my meaning) continue pounding away at the American collective psyche instilling fear, and paranoia about all things "not-American" "not-security minded." They had the brass balls to call the culmination of said fears and paranoia "The Patriot Act." What a load of horse ****! According to how they feel, a true American Patriot™ would report all which he/she sees to the police, not question authority, and believe that a terrorist is hiding behind every bush, tree, rock, and wall.

I hope that the country wakes up and turns this around. This goes WAY beyond the occasional harassment of a rail photographer...

EDIT: Sorry to our UK friends, not all of us are rabid paranoid freakshows like you see in stories like this or portrayed by our dear government's bloodhounds (TSA). I don't fly because of them.......I just hope said dear government doesn't take away the last civilized alternative I have to travel across this great country: Amtrak. (Let's not have that discussion now...haha)

(rant over...for now)
