Has anyoune ever seen as asset so faulty that just highlighting it causes CMP to crash?

No? Want to?
"CSX SD40-2 8855" || slickjay17 || <kuid:87854:982511581>

Is there a command-line version of CMP so I can get this thing out and have a look at it? Or even just delete it. I can't seem to figure out how to delete something I can't click on.

On an almost related note: is there a way to replace this asset in the session it came from (something as easy as replacing its kuid in the config.txt of the session, pretty please)?

I've heard that Trainzmap can do this for track-objects and I'm about to try this out for one of Bloodnok's signals. Could someone smarter than me please explain how a signal needs 133 dependencies? I've got all but 10.

"Sig 3A BR Post Office LHS" Bloodnok <kuid2:60850:24195:3>

BTW, this came in on a route marked ***All assets... yadda yadda;) I'm sure it's a fine and lovely representation of a fine and lovely piece of equipment, but I'm going to need a suitable replacement.

Also BTW the missing dependencies:

They're all his (60850)
<kuid2:60850:23901:1> <kuid2:60850:23902:1> <kuid2:60850:23911:1>
<kuid2:60850:23912:1> <kuid2:60850:23913:1> <kuid2:60850:23921:1>
<kuid2:60850:23922:1> <kuid2:60850:23923:1> <kuid2:60850:23931:1>
<kuid2:60850:23941:1>
Whoops, never mind... DLS decided to cough them up today:). In a Pack, no less. This is my luck day!

Well. cheers. Thank you all in advance for your sage advice.

Drive

What I usually do is to go to my C:/ drive and delete the kuid from there...

Mind you, I gave up on TC3, CMP refused to work at all! So this is for 2004. Still, CMP fpr you must store kuids somewhere.... just go find them.

CMP stores downloads in the ..\TRS2006\local folder, however, the config.txt file is stored as config.chump which has all numerical values converted to hexidecimal. Result is you can't easily read the kuid numbers but you can find the username. Since the local folder has thousands of files it would be a real pain trying to find something in it.

Thank you both for taking the time to reply:)

I had forgotten that the files are stored separately, rather than in one big bin. but since they are so numerous and cryptically named it's nearly the same thing.

I vaguely remember something about a command-line equivalent to CMP but I can't remember what it's called or where to find it. Or I might be able to delete this thing from within CMP if I can get it next to something else I want to delete and select them both. That ought to keep "Asset Details" from doing whatever its doing to crash CMP (at least I assume it's Asset Details that's the problem), but I'm kinda curious as to what's in this Loco that CMP can't even bear to look at it:eek:.

Now, about replacing it in the session: is there any way to do that? I went into the sessions config.txt and swapped the kuid with the Auran BNSF SD40-2 but I did that mostly so the missing-dependencies icon would go away. I will be stunned and amazed If that actually places the loco in all the places the other one was.

Ahh, well. Here's to hoping.

Thanks again

Chris

How about you open CMP, display all installed locos in the main window and then right click and quickly select Delete? Maybe it'll delete before it hangs your computer.

Bob

Great! It worked!

Thanks Bob. Oh wait, now I don't have any locos....

Actually I did a more selective search (faulty + not disabled) after re-enabling a couple of things i was sick of looking at. As we suspected the multiple grab didn't trip whatever it was that was crashing CMP.

Still I would really like to know what caused that. Has anybody else had a problem with this loco? Has anybody else had this problem with any asset? And also, what, if anything, can I do about the session it is supposed to be in?

Again Thanks

Chris

Dear 9820bran,
