More 'abuse' of the DLS...

Either being a botcher's job (which I don't believe -much work to do for nothing- and botching is also an art :hehe: ) or a protest...

...let me insist on telling that's not the way to go...

The Power of Third Party Sites is obvious in Trainz and doesn't need any UFO's (Unavailable Flying Objects) being sent to the DLS.

And just in case of botchery... please, amateur botchers, let pro botchers do the job. Thank you. :p

Hi All
I did forward this to the team when first posted, and we will look into it. Unfortunately, this is likely to happen in a few cases where creators do not wish to fix errors (and instead create further issues anyway).

You must be out of your tiny minds to allow this to continue.

It's hard to imagine what new users who have recently purchased one of your products think when they log into the DLS for the first time - or, for that matter, potential customers who are just having a looksee before committing to a purchase.

Take this to its logical conclusion and a route author could replace his 50 mile epic with one blank baseboard, saying "See ya, wouldn't want to be ya."

It's certainly not in the spirit of freely sharing content for others to use or include in their own work.

I don't think they are allowing this to continue as such, unless someone manually examines every asset uploaded these things can happen, I would imagine they may well get removed after the weekend.

Surely there must be a way of knowing who did this and blocking them from repeating their actions? :(

Well, you don't have to worry about me doing it again as I will never be uploading anything to the DLS ever again.

They give you the choice of an external link, which is then made totally worthless when you can just use the CM..

The boy has a point there. I've also never understood why you have the option to have hidden files on the DLS, or links to third party sites when CMP simply shows the hidden or linked files anyway.

Well I've downloaded a number of these using CM3.3 the other day. Does this mean that some items will now be useless?

Can we back date to previous versions of the affected assets?

To the person who has done this...Grow up! :n:

From what has been said, yes, you'll now have pink blobs in any route that uses those signs/scenary.

As far as degrading, you can just delete the latest version, you should still have the previous version installed from before. Setting up a CM3.3 filter on author:trainz2007, then ordering by install date should make that task fairly easy.

If Auran decide that what the author/whoever has done is 'by the rules', then you're going to have to make sure you don't upgrade those assets within trainz though, as it's going to want to do so.

If by some chance you've deleted the old versions, you can grab old versions manually from the DLS black pages site by using the 'other versions' link on the page for each asset. Make sure you use Download via FTP though, Download Helper will grab the latest applicable version, not the specific version you request.

Works okay doing what Nikki suggested!

Hopefully no-one else will do this kind of thing again. It's a very childish thing to do as the knock on effect means it can spoil everyone's enjoyment of trainz just because someone throws their dummy out of the pram. :'(

Regards.

To OverlordNZ,
Have you even bothered to read this thread? or are you admitting to the sabotage?
No, of course not, get down from your high horse for a while and you may see what we are on about down here at ground level, it has nothing to do with you (i hope) and get back to updating those trees, we do appreciate you and your work really you know (ya grumpy ol git) lol :hehe:
I was referring to the person who turned the assets into pink blobs, that person must be traceable somehow. Not the tree fixer:p

Is this the enemy within......?.......I wonder:D

when is auran going to do something about trainz2007 who persistently keeps uploading kuids with no valid screenshot pic.
the uploads all read
unavailable object
objet non disponoble

if every other user can upload their kuids with a proper screenshot
which is also in the policy as i understand it
why
is this user allowed to upload their rubbish that no-one knows what it is

cheers

Well, all the tree placeholders have been removed from the DLS (by my request) and there will never be another thing uploaded to the DLS ever again, anyone wants new OCR stuff they can come to my website. The Drake tree project has been deleted and terminated, thanks to the 'appreciation' of the 'community'.

As for grumpy you can join 'Capt England' on my ignore list. And I will heighten my horse..Good Day..

@paulhoobs: Im glad someone else noticed that..

And that do you mean be that? Do you mean me, or NikkiA?

@OverlordNZ
Why am I on his ignore list? Can somebody ask him? I can not think of anything that I have done to upset him. I was talking about Trainz2007, whoever he could be and not him. Perhaps a Mod can find out?

I think maybe OverlordNZ should give me a apology unless he has a very good reason.

Regards (and a bit pi**ed off that it seems someone wants to have a go at me)

Don't sweat about OverlordNZ - I think that everyone who says anything he doesn't like gets on his ignore list. I suspect I'll be joining you any second...

...mind you I can't work out what you said either.

For anyone who has downloaded these 'updates', make sure that you don't save a route that uses them until you've deleted the new versions. Otherwise Trainz will be expecting to see the new version in the route, and it will appear as a missing dependency.
