Well, I translated the asset's name, "Panneau Virage Gauche", using Google Translate, :p and that name is French for "Turn Left panel". :p

The "shady tactics as we saw with tree placeholders" was not meant to be 'shady' it was mean to alert people on where to get the * FREE * trees.(how can it be 'shady' if no ones making anything off it?) But we all know no good deed goes unpunished.

I have since asked Auran to remove all the 'tree placeholders' as since the 3+ page of whining about the DMDrake conversion project the place holders are useless since the trees are no longer available.

Would seem to be that it was a collection (that asset wasn't the only one where this 'placeholder' trick has been done to try and cause 'delete from the DLS' effect)

This particular asset's previous version is:

Qfuoc.png


While there are other road signs on the DLS to cover for this user's assets for new route creators, it's going to leave a lot of people up the creek if they relied on these in route creation - which is why Auran have refused to delete assets, and have appeared to frown upon these kinds of shenanigans from what I've seen, as I understand it.
 
And now going serious:

Some of my well-respected trainzers shouldn't be confusing not supporting and contributing to the DLS anymore (like I myself) with entangling and diverting it elsewhere.

The DLS and our Third Party Sites are here to go hand in hand and respect each other. There are so many tons of long hours of committed creative labour in there and out there! Almost ten years of human creativity sometimes scarcely rewarded by a short cold 'thank you', or not even that.

This is true, just take a search under my username. A person would find a ton of them.

Having acquired these things as an update they are pink blobs. The originals, well the ones I had, were an Agricultural Roller and some bins and have been updated to pink blobs so are useless to any one other than some one with a pink blob fetish.

Question I have, is this done by the creator for whatever reason or has someone grabbed them from the fix list and sabotaged them?
 
The creator last posted on the forums about 3 weeks ago, with no mention of removing content or any upset with Auran or the DLS. The plot thickens...

Easiest way to tell about external links is look through the website, if DLS lists the item with yellow worded links for downloading it is on DLS but if blue wording is used, it is external.

However it sounds like something else is going on.
Were these items on the list of assets being updated for TS2009/2010?
Perhaps the updates went wrong.

If that's what happened, then whoever 'fix'ed them needs to be blocked from 'fix'ing things. If you run into something that's too hard for you, you release it back to the list for someone more experienced to have a go, not upload something that doesn't do anything.

As it is, these were simple static scenary, it's very unlikely they were 'unfixable' - if they even needed fixing.

More likely it's a protest against the DLS policies, by either the author, or someone that opted to 'fix' them. Either way, we users suffer far more than N3V ever will from such a protest.
