Monitor Upgrade

I've played Trainz on my 42" LCD and it looked great at 1920*1080 but it wasn't a practical setup for anything but playing games and watching movies. I prefer a traditional desktop setup for building my route and other more serious computer stuff.

My desktop monitor was an old school 4:3 aspect LCD.

So anywho, Walmart had an Acer LED 23" 1920*1080 monitor reduced to $165 USD. I bought it. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Acer-Computers-S230HL-ABD-WM/19714383 .

Wow, packing that many pixels into a 23" monitor really makes Trainz look crisp. Definitely need a few more JR locos now.

Fired up Lord Of The Rings blue ray, wow. Video quality is insane.

Bright colors, great contrast.

This puppy is super thin and only uses 26 watts electricity.

Even came with a VGA and DVI cable.

If anyone is in the market for a new monitor I highly recommend this Acer.

Perhaps you could post some screen shots. By the way, I hope you have the Wilson's Mills to Mount Olive Route by MSGSapper. It is excellent and should really shine on that new monitor.

A screenshot would probably not reveal much because the quality would vary depending on the what the viewer has.

And yes, I do have Wilson's Mills to Mount Olive. I live in Goldsboro just a few miles from where the route passes by.

That still seems like a lot of money for just a monitor. Don't want to think what it cost before it was reduced.

I see the same monitor $120 ebay and $140 newegg, but with Walmarts easy return policy if I see 1 dead pixel I can return it for another one.

Factor in a 10 minute shipping time (Walmart to my house is around 2 miles) with a fuel cost of maybe 25 - 30 cents at most (I brought it home on my scooter), and the deal looks even better. But since I needed to pick up some groceries maybe we should just call it free same hour delivery.
