Mississippi River Floating Bridge at Marquette, Iowa

I just found this picture of the floating brige that spanned the Mississippi River at Marquette Iowa and connected to Prairie du Chien Wisconsin. It was built in 1876 by the Milwaukee Road and lasted until 1961. I thought this might help clear questions of why is there a railroad line across the river and there is no bridge, there were and this was it.
