Missing Textures And the Fix.

First report from a Beta test of a "hopefully" completed Route.included some screen shots of Map with missing Textures,Possibly not picked up by CMP from Dependencies list.
Easily identified by clicking on them on the Prime Map (yes do have show Kuids)in survayor.
But in CMP these Textures did not get a mention as being required/or unknown at all, what's going on ? A further check on the Config Text File revealed that their Kuids were not listed either.
Confirmed by checking each Texture "Map dependant: Map not mentioned here either.
So how could textures be shown without being required ??
One for the Boffins to explain.
There was an easy fix though, after deep thought and a wild guess I clicked on the (so called missing) textures on the map and a quick "little dab will do it" Save again.

And before you ask,no the textures were not removed or disabled at any time.

Problem solved, but why do I get these wierd one's ?

This is a known issue with route saves in TS10. Please tell my that you are in 10 and not 12!

The ground texture data is correctly recorded in the gnd and/or obs file, but is not conveyed to the kuid table. The kuid table is the reference CM uses to compare installed content with required content and generate the 'Missing Content' list.

Because the ground texture's kuid is not in the Kuid Table, CM (a) does not download it if it is missing and (b) does not list it as 'Missing Content'.

IF however the texture in question is already installed on the end user's system it WILL appear in the route as it should.

This issue has plagued all my TS10 releases. The only fix we have worked out is to import the route into a virgin Trainz install, get all the listed content, then painstakingly explore the route looking for grey grid and compare screencaps of the grid area with the master copy of the route.

Be aware however that the list of textures which are not properly recorded will change between one route save and the next, so your 'Little dab and save again' has fixed that issue, but more than likely created new 'blank' areas with different textures. There is no point determining which textures are 'missing' until the very last save before the route is released. The system we worked out was to save the route repeatedly and compare the asset count from the CM content list for each save. Highest asset count wins because that save has the fewest missing textures.

Once the textures are identified they can be listed for download independent of the route, or perhaps included in a 'Missing Texture' cdp, but there is no 'fix' from within the route save itself...

Yes Andy.

I am making the route in 10 testing it in both 10 & 12.
The problem of incorrect numbers of assets has plagued me as well, jumping from 126 to 140 with the higher number appearing in the next test after sending out a Beta.

Damn frustrating, now I'll have to send another CDP.
