missing .texture.txt files

I just moved installed assets from Trainz A New Era to Trainz 2019 SP5, but a lot of them have missing .texture.txt files (even some are builtin to Trainz 2019). Nothing will fix them except for Images2TGA, but I don't want to do all of them one at a time. I wish there is something that can do multiple assets at once.

I think Images2TGA’s trawl mode only means it does all the textures in 1 asset. Meaning, you are still limited to processing 1 asset at a time, even if you are calling on Images2TGA from within AssetX. However I have a simple batch file written by Shane Turner that makes Images2TGA auto-process all the assets in a Windows folder in one hit.

If you PM your email address, I could try to get it to you. Usual trouble is transmitting .exe files is seen as virus code by many computers, even if they are in .zip format, so that could be a problem.

I usually change the .EXE to something innocuous, like .HAH. If necessary, I'll also ZIP it up. Just make sure the intended person has to change the extension back to .EXE

I have not had a lot of luck with that approach. Not sure if it's Win 10, OneDrive or the e-mail servers involved, but something easily detects those obvious attempts at disguise. It might also depend on what sort of code is within the .exe, not sure.

If it is a problem, I can simply send the code of the batch file as a .txt and ask the user to change it to .exe.

I've used that trick in the past with my famous PIZ files, but it doesn't work any longer. I think this is due to programs actually scanning the files rather than relying on the extension or the name.

I think you’re exactly right.

I had a couple of Keygen .exe files stored happily on my computer for several years, then suddenly about a year ago, Win 10 Defender flagged them as trojan viruses and put them in quarantine. I knew they were harmless, but the only way I could restore them and keep Defender from complaining was to deliberately exclude them from its security scans. That was all OK, but when it came to transmitting them electronically to someone in the US, I ended up physically posting them a memory stick. And the recipient had to do his own Win 10 Defender exclusion process before he could get them off the stick.

TMR193:

Had the same problem as you because I tried to copy some locomotives from TANE to the TRS19 using the cdp file system.
Some of them resulted into missing texture.txt files showing in TRS19 Content Manager.
The ones corrupted were the base inbuilt assets in TANE.
So one could possibly use the AssetX software to install the missing texture.txt files.
However it takes too long this process to much trouble.

Also I found some older assets like the 1.3 to 2.9 versions were showing faulty and needed fixing in AssetX.

Check out this forum site thread for added information:

You can transfer any of the TANE layouts / sessions to the TRS19 if needed.
However one has to install them from the content download site after the ownership of the Trainz products are verified.
The new content tab on the bottom of the TRS19 launcher page gets you there.
The trouble is when downloaded into the TRS19 one has to re-do any kuid updates that were probably updated in TANE.

You do not move TANE builtins or DLC, to TRS19, you download it from the Content Store (button on Launcher) download the TANE extras which contains the missing builtins, and your Payware purchased from N3V. There is no need to manually import anything other than your own creations.

Your TANE payware DLC will not work properly if at all in TRS19 as it is, which is why you need to download it again from the content store to get the versions for TRS19.

Your faulty TRS19 assets need reverting to original as you have overwritten the TRS19 builtins with TANE ones. Yes I am aware they are supposedly the same however importing opens the file and commits it before it installs and builtins are mostly precompiled and do not have texture.txt thus the commit fails, many are locked as an anti piracy feature.

I have my own web site now. if I need to send anything to someone else, I just put it up there and give them a link. FTP takes care of the rest of it. Once they download the file, I remove it to clear up space.

In response to my earlier post in this thread (#5) and Deane's response post (#6), I simply offered the new way I sent files to anyone who needs them. One might also ask: Who are you?
