MISSING AND/OR FAULTY DEPENDENCIES FOR 0-6-0

Does anyone know where the missing dependencies can be found of if the faulty ones can be repaired? I would really like to use these old steamers in my rail yard. The tenders show up but not the locos. I am assuming because of the missing or faulty dependencies.

The only locos in you list of kuids are the 2 South Buffalo 0-6-0s. I fixed them by editing the config.txt file to delete the icon 0 tag line and change the horn to one that is available. I have 4 or 5 other 0-6-0s that use kuid:123323:54001. I put that one in as the horn and edit the kuid-table entry to agree. Saved and commited ok.

Thanks Bob: I might have known that you would be the first to respond. I will give your solution a try and let you know how it worked out. (I may require further assistance) However, I did do some file editing back in the old DOS days. As you can see, I finally sprung for a computer that runs CMP smoothly. My old laptop tried, but lacked the processing power to do the job. I now have a P4 running at 3GHZ. I chose the South Buffalo RR 0-6-0 because they were representative of all the 0-6-0's on the DLS. I tried several of the others and they all had missing and/or faulty dependencies. I also remember seeing some of the 0-6-0's working at the Bethlehem Steel complex in Lackawanna NY before the Alco RS-3's took over. Thanks again for all your help, past present and future.

Thank you Phil. I have downloaded all of the 0-6-0 files from RAPID SHARE. Now what would be the best way to replace the missing/faulty files that came with the download from the DLS. Also, I assume the UP 0-6-0 is fully operational. Is there a way to make it show in RAIL YARD? By the way, I noticed in the beautiful screen shot that the 0-6-0 is operating on 3 rail track. Is that by design? I'm asking because I also collect and operate 3 rail, mostly Lionel and MTH.

Sorry for all the questions, Regards, Tom

Fixing UP 0-6-0 #4609,<kuid2:46075:6930:4>

Warning: Tag 'icon0' in the container 'traincar' is obsolete.
Error: The tag '!-' is not permitted within this container. (Container type 'traincar')
Error: The tag 'bellloopdur' is not permitted within this container. (Container type 'traincar')
Error: Unable to load mesh file: 'content 54ngproh49\UP_060_shadow\UP_060_shadow.im'

Open for Edit in Explorer
Double click the config.txt file to put a copy in Notepad
Delete these lines:

bellloopdur 0.874
icon0 <kuid:-3:10164>
!- "Safety - bluish/white 50% transparent"

If you look in the UP_060_shadow folder you'll see the mesh is actually named atsf instead of UP. Creators that do several similar items will use cut and paste alot which can cause things like the shadow error. To fix the last error -
Find the shadow container and change the line:

mesh "UP_060_shadow/UP_060_shadow.im"
to
mesh "UP_060_shadow/atsf_060_shadow.im"

Save and commit

Most the above applies to other 0-6-0s. On of the 0-6-0 tenders calls for a Bettendorf 33" bogies. If the one called for is not on the DLS use the other Bettendorf33, kuid:60238:50011. If you change it also change the kuid-table entry to agree.

Thanks again Bob: You really know your stuff. When I purchased TRAINZ 2006 at a train show last fall it was because the editor portion of MSTS was too difficult to use and unreliable at times. TRAINZ promised thousands of quick downloads for immediate use on your layout and operating industries too. Just what I was looking for. Little did I know what lay ahead. Still learning after 73 years on this earth.

Best Regards, Tom

rweber95 (Bob) I was able to install and modify as suggested UP 0-6-0 #4609 using the import content function of CMP. It shows up in the rail yard listing including the thumbnail picture but no loco or tender. Checking dependencies in CMP tells me Hosebogy 060R and 060L are faulty just like all the other 0-6-0's in the DLS. Unless you have a magic fix for the faulty bogies, this is a lost cause. I have been reading some websites of former posters on this site who tried and failed to get Auran to fix the DLS. Some suggest getting a copy of 2004 and stay with it. At least I now have a better understanding of why things don't work as they should.

Regards, Tom

I just downloaded the Hosebogies separately and they commit without errors. Why don't you copy and paste the errors and warnings list from CM2 here so I can see what the problem is?

Bob

Bob: I was not aware that you could download the Hosebogies separately. Let me try to do just that and see what happens. If no improvement,I will copy and paste here. Loco list in CMP shows one dependency missing plus faulty bogies. Tender shows 3 missing dependencies all wav files. This is from memory so possibly not 100% correct.

Thanks Again, Tom

Bob: Found HoseBogeies on DLS. Found two versions, one set dated April 05 which were shown to be faulty, and an earlier version dated Jan 05 (not faulty) However when I attempted to download the earlier version from DLS stating files not found or words to that effect. I am almost to the point where I need to delete all the 0-6-0 stuff and start over because I now have a mix of old and new files. Any way here is what I have in the CMP.

Bob: Please disregard the above post. I have parts of 3 or 4 different 0-6-0's in my local content. I need to delete that stuff and get a fresh start. I have the original UP version saved and will reinstall in CMP. Your assistance and expertise is appreciated.

I think we can bring this thread to a successful conclusion. Thanks to rweber and philskene I now have a working 0-6-0 (UNION PACIFIC) switcher and tender in my rail yard. My new challenge is to download and fix errors in other versions as well, particularly the NYC and SOUTH BUFFALO RAILWAY which were local railroads. Many thanks to both of you and happy railroading.

There are 2 NYC 0-6-0 locos on the DLS:
NYC 0-6-0 6825,<kuid:44797:6825>
NYC-060-6825,<kuid:44797:6830>
Both are throughly hosed and will not be easily fixed.
If you want an NYC switcher, you might consider repainting one of your working ones.

Bob

Hi Bob: I think you are saying that it might be easier to repaint the UP version than try and fix a NYC. I don't have any experience with paint shop, but a steamer repaint should not be too difficult. All I need to redo are the numbers and road name. By the way, my six year old grand daughter was over last night and she had a ball driving the 0-6-0 plus a NYC Pacemaker caboose all over a modified built in Town and Country setup. When her dad arrived to pick her up, she did not want to leave.

Take Care, Tom

Hi Bob: I think I need some more help. I downloaded an end of track bumper from the DLS (track object) but cannot find it in surveyor. It shows in my local content with no faulty or missing dependencies but no where else. It is "US_bumper_darkrust". kuid:<106916:10052>. There is probably a simple solution, but a search of the forums did not turn up anything. (probably a poor choice of key words on my part)

Thanks, Tom

Start Surveyor - Create New and click the Track tab (or press F4) then select Trackside Mode (or press Y). You should find it listed as US bumper darkrusty. Lay a piece of track and you should be able to place the bumper. If not, delete it and download again.

Bob

Bob: It was there all the time under Trackside Mode. What a dummkoff. I spent almost two hours searching under Track and Objects to no avail. The learning curve is longer than I thought because TRAINZ can do so much. Please stick around this thread because tomorrow I plan to tackle the 0-6-0 repaint. I think I will make a clone first in case I mess it up.

Regards, Tom

Hi Bob: I tried to begin my 0-6-0 renumbering/relettering project but quickly ran into a snag. I brought the item up in CMP, then right clicked on edit, but Edit in Paintshed was grayed out. Both for the original version and the cloned version. Where do I go from here?

Thanks, Tom
