This design was 1958 developed by 'Entwurfsbuero fuer Hochbau Halle' means 'Office for building construction'.
After the second world war, the major problem in Germany has been the lack of housing. In the mid 50s the GDR government started strong efforts to create a system of housing which could be build
with minimum effort and material usage. These have been the first type series.
Material was very scarcely, so these buildings have been build in old brick fashion, with very thin walls and minimum features.
Heating system have been tiled stoves and one electrical outlet per room.
Each half had six apartments: 2x type A with 2 1/2 rooms/57.88m2, 2x type B with 1 1/2 rooms/4.66m2 and 1x type C 1 room/24.4m2.
Each apartment had a kitchen and a bathroom.
In the late 70s the situation on the housing market in the GDR was relieved. A demand for private homes was growing.
So the Ministerium fuer Bauwesen/Bauakademie der DDR (Ministry for Building and Construction industry/Building Academy of the GDR) developed a large number of type of houses.
This one is from 1982 planned for two families with four persons, has 87.35m2 on each side.
The cost was calculated with 63.200 (GDR)Mark (about 6,320 Euro today).
