Merging Question?

I have been working on a route for a few months now and I was having trouble with some portions of the tracks disapearing in Driver mode. They were never the same tracks on any time I ran the route. It was just random. I am using TS12 Build 49922. My route is around 20 X 10 miles and am running 20 AI trains on it. I was told in this forum that I should merge my session layer into the route layer. I did this, but now when I go into Edit do I just go into Edit Route or should I go into Edit Session in surveyor? All my objects, industries, consists, tracks and everything is now on the route layer. I'm having a hard time grasping this layer thing. I ran the route today once after I did the merge and I didn't notice any missing tracks, so maybe that helped that item. I guess when I first started building the route for some reason I named the route and the session with the same name. Probably shouldn't have done this. But like a dummy I did. Can you rename a route or a session? I hope I don't sound to dumb by asking these questions, but I have a lot of SENIOR moments....Thanks.....

What I do is, I go to Edit Session, then I click on "layers" (F6) and select "route-layer" before doing any trackwork.

Thanks Scottbe8, I just ran my route again and spotted 3 different places where a portion of track missing. Just don't know what to do about it. Oh well, I guess the trains will just have to run on the ballast with no track under it....Ha....Thanks again....
