Merging Issue

Hey guys,

My friend and I have been working on a Trainz route together. We have taken the original Banks-Heath route and then expanded it by merging with other routes. Lately, we have been experiencing a major problem when merging new routes onto the existing parts. When we do the merge it messes up a lot of the existing track objects. Signals, speed signs, switches and other track objects all get moved out of place, some worse than others, when the merge is done.

Had anyone else had these kind of problems? Any solutions?

Thanks,
lepstein

If you're talking about TS2010 "spaghetti track", that was a bug up until 44088. Patch to the latest 49933 and it shouldn't do it anymore.

Might this have something to do with layers. Just wondering if some things are on a session layer and its not merging correct.

No it doesn't stagecoach. Every "layers" are working out well. It's really just that objects and trackmarkers and everything is out of place.. I don't get why it changes.. but it does.. and it's frustrating..

For merging I have found that each part has to be the same Trainz version and patched to the same build number.

For example if your friends are using a different build number to you, or they are using TS2009 or TS12 when you are using TS2010, you will have problems when you try to merge their bit to yours.

If you had been using TS12 there are additional problems because the merge function does not work correctly and causes crashes to desktop.

Further thoughts!

After installing your friend's CDP, check in Surveyor that it looks OK. If it is, then use 'Save As' and save that part map under a different name. This will save that part map in the version and build number that you are using on your system and possibly clean it up if there are any hidden problems.
Now merge this new version of the part map with your main map.
